Compensation:

Salary Range (1450 Hay Points): $151,894- $215,592.

 

Responsibilities:

New York City Transit is looking for a dynamic Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) reporting into the Office of the President.
The Chief Administrative Officer is responsible for coordinating administrative operations across New York City Transit (NYCT), and its departments, to enhance effectiveness and efficiency. The CAO is responsible for all matters related to the extremely sensitive compliance, internal controls, Inspector General investigations, special investigations, and external and internal audit recommendations. The CAO has oversight of NYCT's Workers Compensation Unit. The CAO is further responsible for ensuring agencywide response and implementation of recommendations from any accepted reports from these units.
This position serves as an executive-level interface with other areas within MTA, such as with the MTA People Department, MTA Labor Relations, MTA IT, and other shared services.
This is a highly strategic and facilitative position that requires a combination of focus and flexibility as well as willingness to play an active and communicative role.
The incumbent will supervise administrative staff within the Office of the President, will analyze reporting, establish a strong risk management culture, optimize processes, and manage resources.
The incumbent will perform other duties as required by the President and/or Chief of Staff.

 

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree Major Field of Study: Business Administration, Public Administration, or

satisfactory equivalent. (Legal, Policy, or Compliance experience preferred.)

 

Must have a minimum of twelve (12) years of related experience and five (5) years must have been in a managerial/supervisory capacity in a large, multi-faceted organization.

 

Desired Skills:

  • Excellent quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills, together with demonstrated quantitative skills and proficiency in Excel modeling.
  • High risk management acumen and strong ethics.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the talent to communicate complex quantitative concepts in a clear and succinct way to internal stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an established history of working on projects requiring group consensus and cooperation among people with no direct reporting relationships.
  • Must be capable of building a strong and successful network, developing new relationships and influencing decision makers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in team and/or group settings, including team process and staff development skills.
  • Ability to prioritize among competing needs and opportunities and manage multiple projects at the same time.

 

Selection Method:

Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview.

 

All appointments, with the exception of the Department of Subways employees on MABSTOA payroll, will be made on the NYCT payroll.
