JOB SUMMARY
Provide leadership, direction and project management of all Station Projects including Capital improvements, cyclical inspection and maintenance programs, station enhancements and parking operations. Act as the liaison between the Stations Department and other MNR departments and outside agencies for all station projects. Provide leadership and direction regarding the Stations Department operations support functions. Develop or update Stations Department administrative policies and procedures as required; and implement any/all other MTA or MNR policies as instructed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide station assessments and improvement plans to ensure all station elements are in a state of good repair and in compliance with established stations standards. Modify station standards as required.
- Oversee station parking operations, vending and other customer amenity programs in stations.
- Assist with reviewing requirements for future programs for all Stations and Facilities which include developing cost estimates with scope of work, and specifications for purchasing services, materials, and equipment.
- Coordinate all interdepartmental and interagency stations initiatives involving MTA Real Estate, Engineering and Construction, Planning, Operations, Corporate and Public Affairs, Communications, etc.
- Review all project scopes, specifications and design submittals to ensure they meet station standards, project objectives and create a functional and aesthetically pleasing station environment while ensuring safe operations, procedures and station conditions for employees and customers.
- Develop and coordinate alternate service operations for planned and unplanned service disruptions.
- Respond to planned and unplanned service disruptions (24/7).
- Manage and oversee all Station Operations department contracts and assist in the preparation of the department’s annual budget, equipment, and manning requests.
- Oversee the Operations Support functions to ensure that all tasks are being handled correctly and in a timely basis, including payroll, human resources, procurement, safety, employee discipline, labor relations, departmental budgets, expense controls, MTA Internal Controls and all other related issues.
- Select, develop, and motivate staff and provide career development for team members. Provide effective coaching and counseling. Manage team and individual performance. Create a professional environment that respects individual differences and enables staff to develop and contribute to their full potential.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Strong leadership, management and coordination skills are required to plan and implement inter-departmental Station initiatives.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to speak effectively in a group setting and deliver formal presentations.
- Familiarity with Railroad operations and safety programs and procedures.
- Strong knowledge of ADA and Historic Preservation requirements.
- Knowledge of MS Office Suite and/or comparable applications.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- General understanding of statistical and/or budget analysis processes.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and manage complex projects in a fast-paced atmosphere.
- Strong ability to coordinate the work and resources of several departments to accomplish shared goals.
- Strong ability to creatively view customer service needs, concerns and execute broad programs to address these issues.
- Must be able to respond to emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Project Management, Transportation or another related field. Demonstrated equivalent education, experience and/or technical credentials to include four (4) additional years of related experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Minimum eight (8) years of experience with increasing responsibility in operations or project management.
- Minimum six (6) years of experience managing a diverse workforce.

- Actual salary offers may vary based on individual work experience. The annual salary range is subject to change and may be modified at the company’s discretion.
- Employees driving company vehicles will be subject to License Monitoring and must complete defensive driver training once every three years for current MTA drivers; or within 180 days of hire or transfer for an employee entering an authorized driving position.
- Current employee applicants should be in their current position 12 months prior to starting a new role and must possess a satisfactory work history, including attendance and discipline record.
