JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for the issuance and proper collection of tickets to passengers while providing excellent customer service and assistance as needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITES
Responsible for the issuance and proper collection of tickets to passengers while providing excellent customer service and assistance as needed.
- Inspect tickets and transportation methods to ensure proper collection, making recommendations to protect revenue and meet operating standards.
- Perform transportation tests to verify compliance with transportation procedures.
- Provide customer, station, and train information used for analysis of transportation needs.
- Develop, coordinate, and implement projects and programs as assigned.
- Supervise gating programs at various stations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor
- During times of manpower shortage, Special Duty Conductors may be required to temporarily return to their craft until manpower conditions improve.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be a current LIRR employee
- Must possess a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent (GED or TASC) approved by a State’s Department of Education or recognized accredited organization.
- Must be fully qualified as a Conductor
- Most possess detailed knowledge of tickets and ticket collections with emphasis on passenger operations
- Must possess ability to demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and oral and written communication skills, as well as problem solving and judgment skills
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITES
- Must possess detailed knowledge of ticket collections with emphasis on passenger operations.
- Must possess ability to demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and oral written communication skills as well as problem-solving and judgement skills
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Must possess a four-year (4) high school diploma or it’s educational equivalent (GED or TASC) approved by a State’s Department of Education or recognized accredited organization.
- Must be fully qualified as a Conductor or Assistant Conductor on that portion of the Book of Rules and Air Brakes

- Pursuant to the New York State Public Officers Law & the MTA Code of Ethics, all employees who hold a policymaking position must file an Annual Statement of Financial Disclosure (FDS) with the NYS Commission on Ethics and Lobbying in Government (the “Commission”).
- Actual salary offers may vary based on individual work experience. The annual salary range is subject to change and may be modified at the company’s discretion.
- Employees driving company vehicles will be subject to License Monitoring and must complete defensive driver training once every three years for current MTA drivers; or within 180 days of hire or transfer for an employee entering an authorized driving position.
- Current employee applicants should be in their current position 12 months prior to starting a new role and must possess a satisfactory work history, including attendance and discipline record.
