Position Objective:
This position is responsible for the management and coordination of production and scheduling maintenance activities for the facilities identified in the responsibilities of this position. This process is critical to establish and meet the requirement for service reliability and production as it impacts customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
- Provide a safe workplace for all MofE personnel.
- Assist in the day-to-day operation for the area specific to their region of responsibilities service and initiatives.
- Develop and monitor production and scheduling functions all its related facilities.
- Assist in enforcing the standardized policies established by the department at the facilities of responsibility.
- Contribute input and monitor Operating and Operating Capital Budgets for the New Haven Line Facilities. Review and explain variances reflected in the Budget vs. Actual Report. Review and monitor weekly overtime usage to ensure actual expenditures meet departmental goals.
- Select, develop, and motivate staff and provide career development for team members. Provide effective coaching and counseling. Manager team and individual performance. Create a professional environment that respects individual differences and enables staff to develop and contribute to their full potential.
Required Qualifications:
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge of Mechanical/Electrical maintenance repair and scheduling of maintenance activities.
- Strong oral and written skills required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to promote teamwork.
- Strong project management and planning skills required.
- Knowledge of FRA and other regulatory agencies’ requirements.
- Familiarity with Collective Bargaining agreements and disciplinary experience.
- Working knowledge of various software packages, including Microsoft Office Suite and/or demonstrated equivalent.
- Strong collaborating, coordination and human resource skills required.
- Must be available 24 hours 7 days a week as required.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License.
The following is/are preferred:
- Strong knowledge of all applicable Collective Bargaining agreements.
Required Education and Experience:
- BS in electrical/mechanical discipline or related field. Demonstrated equivalent experience, education and/or technical credentials to include four (4) additional years of related experience may be considered in place of a degree.
- Minimum seven (7) years’ experience in mechanical/electrical maintenance repair, including 4 years progressively more complex management experience in a railroad-operating environment or related equipment and operating environment.
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience managing a staff.
This position is safety-sensitive and subject to toxicological testing.
According to the New York State Public Officers Law & the MTA Code of Ethics, all employees who hold a policymaking position must file an Annual Statement of Financial Disclosure (FDS) with the NYS Commission on Ethics and Lobbying in Government (the “Commission”).
Employees driving company vehicles must complete defensive driver training once every three years for current MNR drivers; or within 180 days of hire or transfer for an employee entering an authorized driving position.
