Salary Range: $184,815 - $253,448 (Exec/1800Hay points)
Responsibilities
Responsibilities
This position is accountable for directing the delivery of safe, reliable, cost effective and on-schedule bus transportation for all the operating divisions of NYC Transit and MTA Bus. Will direct transportation, maintenance and administrative activities both at the depot level and on the road. Will study the operations of both entities and identify and implement best practices. Will have complete accountability for the quality of operations and the meeting of annual goals through the management of all classes of employees and the interface with support departments and other City/State agencies.
Additional duties and responsibilities
- Direct the delivery of daily bus service throughout all operating divisions of the Regional Bus Department. Specifically responsible for all Transportation, Road Operations and Maintenance functions throughout the operation.
- Develops short and long range transportation operational and strategic plans, including on-time performance, service regularity, accident reduction, crime/vandalism reduction, and improved customer satisfaction. Develop and implement all related policies, procedures and directives. Ensure compliance with same.
- Direct the development of all annual employee and fiscal resource levels. Direct budget development, monitoring and amending. Direct the application of labor agreements and related policies, including the development and negotiation of department-wide objectives for contract negotiations and picks
- Ensure consistent bus operations from NYCT and MTA Bus. Will study the operations of NYCT and MTA Bus entities and identify and implement best practices. Direct the identification/implementation of best industry practices. Ensure that functions meet the needs of customers throughout the region.
- Direct and oversee the activities of the Centralized Road Service Unit which involves tow and repair services. Ensure minimal impact to service and that replacement buses are dispatched expeditiously
Education and Experience
- A Baccalaureate’s degree from an accredited college in Transportation Management, or a satisfactory equivalent and fifteen (15) years of satisfactory related professional experience, and at least ten (10) years of which must have been in a managerial/supervisory capacity; or
- A satisfactory equivalent of combined education and experience requirements
Desired Skills
- Knowledge of the broad based managerial disciplines of planning, organizing, directing and controlling a large multi-location, multi-faceted line based organization.
- The knowledge and ability to implement executive policies and procedures.
- The ability to formulate plans for the achievement of short and long term goals.
- In-depth knowledge of transportation operations
