Position Title: Paratransit Data Analyst, Emerging Talent Internship
Hourly Rate: $19.00 (Undergraduate), $21.00 (Graduate), $22.00 (Post-Graduate)
Overview of Department:
New York City Transit, Department of Paratransit operates the largest paratransit operation in the world, with an operating budget of $692 million. We oversee the operations of New York City Access-A-Ride (AAR) service as established under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The intern will support the Operations Analytics team in analyzing trends, patterns, and anomalies in data. Assist in gathering data from various sources and organize data into structured formats for easy access and use. Work closely with data analyst and other units to ensure the smooth flow of data and deliver insights.
Responsibilities:
- Update and maintain Excel reports and dashboards to reflect ongoing data projects.
- Track and compare KPI metrics, identify, and record discrepancies.
- Keep detailed records of data sources, transformations, and analysis methods used in a project
- Document processes and data preparation methods for consistency and reproducibility
- Input and update data into spreadsheets, databases, or reporting tools.
- Prepare basic reports, charts, and summaries of data as requested by data analysts.
- Clean raw data by identifying and correcting errors, handling missing values, and ensuring consistency and accuracy in the data.
- Work with business units to build process improvement Power BI Dashboards.
Projects:
- OMNY reporting and data studies
- Reporting system to track PowerBI Dashboards, Committe report, and metrics site for data consistency
- Additional Paratransit initiatives
Required Qualifications:
- The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication skill
- Basic proficiency in tools like Excel (pivot tables, formulas), data analysis software. Should be skilled in DAX, particularly with Time Intelligence, Iterators, Context and filter functions
- Detail oriented with a focus on data accuracy and quality
- Ability to identify and address issues related to data quality and accuracy
- The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player
Required Education:
- Matriculated in undergraduate in good standing with at least 2.5 GPA or graduate program with at least a 2.8 GPA.
- Major(s) Preferred: Computer Engineering, Data Engineering/Analysis, or related field.
