POSITON SUMMARY:
The Superintendent ensures that the track access needs of the ongoing non-capital projects are met in conjunction with CPM and Track Construction goals while minimizing passenger inconvenience. This will be done by coordinating track access schedules for all projects on the A and the B Division. On a week-by-week basis, the Superintendent will keep ongoing non-capital projects productive, either with ·service plans or opportunities to work "under traffic", in consultation with Track's advance teams. The Superintendent will ensure that non-capital track access clients, esp. the Track Division continue to achieve their program and will assist the General Superintendent in the day-to-day management of the Trac Access Unit.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan and write service plans for non-capital track access clients, coordinating with the A and B Superintendents, Track Access, and the Track Division.
Keep abreast of and assist in the preparation of the rolling construction/maintenance diversion schedule so as to effectively schedule diversions for non-capital track access clients, with the assistance of a planner. Perform track access and force account analysis to assist CPM, Subways and OP staff in project scheduling decisions.
Analyze track access impact of non-capital projects (esp. vacuum train) and other projects, with the assistance of a planner, and report findings to OP staff.
Assist the General Superintendent in the day-to-day management of the Track Access Unit, with the assistance of a planner. Ensure that all track access functions are performed efficiently and products delivered on time.
With the assistance of a planner, prepare reports for OP staff and client departments on non-capital projects (such as the vacuum train) and other projects.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A Baccalaureate degree in Public Administration, Economics, Urban Planning, Transportation Planning or Engineering or a closely related field; or a satisfactory equivalent of education and experience AND
Four (4) years of full time professional work experience in large rapid transit operations AND
Two (2) years of which must have been in a managerial/ supervisory capacity.
DESIRED SKILLS:
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Knowledge of the New York City subway system and NYC geography and neighborhoods
- Knowledge of NYCT train operations • Familiarity with NYCT track access procedures, signal prints, and TAMS database
- Proficiency in working with large datasets, spreadsheet analysis, and statistical analysis
- Proficiency with SQL or similar database analysis languages is desirable
- Experience and familiarity with transit planning practices and rail operations concepts is desirable

Final salary is determined experience, skillset, and alignment with compensation practices. The posted range reflects expected compensation and may be updated as market or business needs evolve.
