COMPENSATION
The current minimum salary is $47.93321 per hour for a 40-hour week increasing to $52.927853 per hour in the third year of service. These rates are subject to change as per the SSSA Collective Bargaining Agreement. The benefits of this position include, but are not limited to, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave, and a comprehensive medical plan and pension plan.
Current rate has been established by the SSSA Union and is non-negotiable.
Hours of work and regular days off may be changed as urgent business matters arise.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising Transportation Department Locomotive Engineers, Conductors, Booth Operators, and Janitors. Providing technical guidance to Transportation Department employees as they perform their assigned responsibilities; Maintaining a “School Car of Instruction” as required; Planning, organizing, and directing Transportation initiatives. In conjunction with Operations Support Training Unit, the successful candidate will also conduct reviews of Transportation Department training matrix, curriculums, and syllabus and update as directed, conduct quarterly evaluations of all Transportation employees; maintain a database of evaluations and updating as directed, conducting Joint Safety Audits as well as attend and represent the Transportation Department at internal and external meeting. The incumbent will also respond to incidents along the railway and assist with service disruptions and the movement of equipment as needed in emergency situations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of 5 years’ related experience of which three (3) must be in a
supervisory capacity.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s license.
- Experience working in a transportation network and operating train equipment is preferred.
- Required to work all shifts including morning, afternoons, overnights and weekends to support 24/7 operations.

discussions associated with the effective management of the Railway.

- Proficient understanding of NYCT/SIR rules and regulations.
- Ability to review the performance of field work safely and properly in an active railroad environment.

- Ability to learn quickly with a focus on high productivity and accuracy in work production.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the
organization: seeks solutions that will provide value to the organization.

- High level of self-initiative and dependability; must possess positive, can-do attitude.
- Strong organizational skills and writing skills.
