Compensation
Compression Rate: $162,080
Responsibilities:
This person is responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the Department of Subways Rail Service Delivery is responsible for directing and managing the 24/7 operations of the OCC to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient subway service. This role oversees incident management, emergency response, and coordinated operations across Rail Control, Car Equipment, Stations Environment, Customer Communications, and Power Control Centers. The incumbent leads managers and supervisors, ensures regulatory and safety compliance, and utilizes advanced operational technologies to mitigate service disruptions. The General Superintendent serves as a key liaison to senior leadership and external emergency agencies and represents the Assistant Chief Officer as designated.
Education and Experience:
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in Transportation Management, Business Administration or a related field and a minimum of ten (10) years of experience, of which six (6) years must have been in a managerial or supervisory capacity -or-
- A satisfactory equivalent of education and experience.
Desired Skills:
- Comprehensive knowledge of Service Delivery’s operations’ procedures, rolling stock equipment, New Technology Cars and work equipment.
- Knowledge of information and signals systems, car maintenance, and service requirements.
- Knowledge of Service Delivery’s emergency and safety procedures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient knowledge of computer applications including MS Office.
Selection Method:
Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview.
All appointments, with the exception of the Department of Subways employees on MABSTOA payroll, will be made on the NYCT payroll.
