This is a Non-Represented Position.
This position is eligible for telework which is currently one day per week. New hires are eligible to apply 30 days after their effective date of hire.

SUMMARY:
Responsible to oversee the annual Engineering Operating Programs (including Port-A-Lav, Dumpsters, Prescription Eyewear, Trailers and as assigned). Assist in the development of material projections. Oversee the Annual inventory. Assist different sections of Engineering in the development and preparation of requisitions. Oversee the management of all blanket order purchases. Administer and maintain records on all equipment for Engineering.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Develop specifications required for procurement of material needed for scheduled maintenance/projects. Develop material orders for the Departments of Engineering. Respond to questions from Procurement and suppliers.
- Maintain and coordinate Engineering material reports and material delivery schedules and the handling of the annual scrap program. Safeguard company assets as this position is responsible for inventory both amount and location.
- Maintain various spreadsheets of Engineering materials requisitions and service contracts based on operating group.
- Process blanket orders for payment. Checking orders for billing errors and authorization. Oversee internal control procedures for material charge outs.
- Expedite deliveries of Engineering Material. Verify amount of material against invoices for errors, checking for prompt arrivals.
- Ensure adequate tool supply is on hand.
- Perform other duties as requested by Senior Engineering Department Managers.
- Select, develop and motivate personnel within the department. Provide career development for subordinates. Provide prompt and effective coaching and counseling. Responsible for discipline/termination of employees when necessary. Review direct reports and approve performance appraisals. Promote safe work practices and provide safe working conditions. Create a professional environment that respects individual differences and enables all employees to develop and contribute to their full potential.

QUALIFICATIONS:
A). Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field. Additional four years demonstrated, directly related, equivalent experience and education may be considered in lieu of the degree.
- Must possess experience in positions with increased responsibility in related material management (Approximately 4 years).
- Must possess demonstrated leadership skills.
- Must possess knowledge of the computerized material management systems specifically PeopleSoft, LIMS and MAXIMO used.
- Must possess Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Must possess strong human relations skills coupled with professional demeanor and a high degree of integrity.
B.) Preferred
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Engineering departments, with an understanding of the special needs associated with the Track and Structures department’s material requirements.
- Knowledge of LIRR Financial practice and understanding of procurement process.
