COMPENSATION:
The current minimum salary is $45.51 per hour with increments to $53.55 per hour in the fourth year.
 

SUMMARY:

Revenue Equipment Supervisor(s) will be responsible for overseeing and supervising maintainers performing revenue equipment maintenance for the Electronic Support operations at MTA Bus depots as required.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise revenue maintenance operating functions to support depot operational needs
  • Ensure revenue equipment is in good operating condition for new installation(s) to meet bus service requirements
  • Prepare management reports related to revenue equipment maintenance activities and make recommendations to improve performance and reliability
  • Ensure safety procedures and agency policies are followed
  • Report safety incidents to the appropriate departments and complete “incident on duty” (IOD) when required
  • Coordinate deliveries and receipts of revenue equipment parts inventory
  • Track validator component movement in SPEAR
  • Provide support to MTA Bus depot operations to target and resolve revenue equipment problems
  • Prepare and assign daily work assignments to mechanics
  • Assist the Administrative Supervisors with pickup and delivery of revenue equipment components
  • Supervise Maintainers on the maintenance and repair of revenue and other electronic equipment used on buses when required
  • Ensure mechanics are fit for duty
  • Provide guidance to maintainers on diagnosing and repairing equipment defects
  • Float periodically between other locations to cover shifts for vacation, sick and personal leave day request
  • Request overtime to cover work assignments needed to meet the needs of depot operations
  • Participate in bi-weekly staff meetings with the Director of Electronic Support

 

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of materials, equipment and safety procedures utilized in the installation and maintenance of electronic equipment found in buses
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office based software, SPEAR and UTS
  • Knowledge of Safety rules and procedures
  • Familiarity with labor union agreement rules and regulations
  • Ability to resolve conflicts
  • Ability to interact with various levels of management and union personnel
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving and supervisory skills

Eligibility to Take Exam/Promotion Requirements:

On the date of the structured interview test, you must be employed in MTA Bus Company as a Security Equipment Maintainer, Revenue Equipment Maintainer, or Bus Maintainer (Chassis). Bus Maintainer (Chassis) employees must have a minimum of two years prior experience working in farebox maintenance at MTA Bus Company. To be promoted from the eligibility list you must have completed your probation in the eligible title.

Employees working in other agencies are not eligible for this opportunity.

OPEN COMPETITIVE CANDIDATES (Open to anyone internal or external who meets these requirements)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Electronics and/or IT Technology or a closely related field; and
  • Three years of full-time journeyperson experience performing installation, repair, maintenance and testing of electronic or IT communications equipment, fareboxes and/or other digital electronic equipment.

 

DRIVER LICENSE REQUIREMENT:

If you are considered for promotion to the title of Revenue Equipment Supervisor, you must meet the requirements in “1” or “2” below at the time of promotion:

  1. A Class A or Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) valid in the State of New York with a passenger endorsement, no airbrake restrictions and no other disqualifying restrictions that would preclude the performance of the duties of this title; or
  2. A Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York and a Learner Permit for a Class B CDL valid in the State of New York with a passenger endorsement, no airbrake restrictions and no other disqualifying restrictions.

If you qualify under “2” above, your promotion will be subject to the receipt of a Class B CDL valid in the State of New York with a passenger endorsement, no airbrake restrictions and no other disqualifying restrictions within 120 days of promotion. If you fail to obtain the Class B CDL within 120 days of your promotion, your employment will be terminated, or you will be returned to your previously held title. If you have serious moving violations, a license suspension or an accident record, you may be disqualified.

 

The Class A or Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) with a passenger endorsement and no airbrake restrictions or any other disqualifying restrictions must be maintained for the duration of your employment in the title. Such license and/or Learner Permit must not include any restrictions which would preclude the performance of Revenue Equipment Supervisor work.

 

Commercial Motor Vehicle Driving Experience in the Military or New York National Guard: If you are an active member or former member (discharged in the past year) of the military or New York National Guard and have experience driving a Commercial Motor Vehicle in the military or New York National Guard, you may be eligible for a waiver of the New York State commercial driving skills test through the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles. If you believe that you may be eligible for this waiver, you must apply for the waiver through the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles.
