Responsibilities
Under general direction, performs journey-level printing press operator tasks, including set-up, daily equipment inspections; routine maintenance and problem troubleshooting; minor repairs and equipment adjustments. Must have experience with operating high-speed, large volume multi-color Web and Sheet-fed presses. Responsibilities include checking job ticket instructions; preparing and mixing inks; preparing plates and cylinders; checking automatic feeds, impositions, ink densities and press speed. The position will also ensure overall job quality control and adherence to specifications. The incumbent will load, and unload materials using forklifts and other material handling equipment and must consistently adhere to safe work practices.  
  
Note: Job performance requires the ability to lift 25-40 pounds repetitively.  In addition, the candidate must be willing to work rotation shifts, weekends, and overtime as business needs dictate.  
  
Education and Experience
Level 1-111
Five to eight years of full-time satisfactory experience as an offset printing operator: or  
A minimum of three years of full-time satisfactory offset printing press experience e as described in ”1” above and any combination of the following education and experience to make up the equivalent of five years of acceptable experience:  
  • Full-time satisfactory experience as an offset printing operator’s apprentice or helper: or  
  • Education in a technical high school, trade high school or vocational high school with a major course study in operating an offset printing press; or  
  • Graduation from a recognized trade school with a major in course of study in operating an offset printing press, with a minimum of 600 hours.  
  
Education must be approved by the state department of education or a recognized accrediting organization.  
  
Six months acceptable experience will be credited for each year of full-time satisfactory apprentice or helper experience as described in “a” above or for each year of completed relevant high school education as described in “b” above.  
  
Two years of acceptable experience will be credited for graduation from a recognized trade school as described in “c” above.  
 
Desired Skills 
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Job performance requires the ability to lift 25-40 pounds repetitively.
Must be willing to work rotation shifts, weekends, and overtime as business needs dictate.
