Compensation


 
Supervisory Bookbinder: min. $51,296 – max. $72,141

Responsibilities:
 
The Print Shop produces approximately 55 million pieces annually, including service notices, brochures, posters, timetables, internal forms, and stationery. The incumbent supervises and coordinates with the print shop manager to schedule jobs and set priorities for all bindery employees, to ensure the smooth operation of jobs and quality control of final products, while meeting Company goals, following procedures and print order requirements. The position logs and tracks all Bindery print orders in an online database for audit purposes, submits daily reports to the manager as requested and schedules and supervises necessary maintenance for all print shop Bindery machinery. The incumbent is responsible for training new staff on Bindery equipment. As part of this role the incumbent is required to be an active physical worker involved in the daily production within the Bindery group. The Supervisory Bookbinder is also responsible for coordinating with the distribution team for on-time scheduled daily deliveries of print orders.
 
Must be available to work Sat/Sun if needed.
 
Note:  Job performance requires the ability to lift 25-40 pounds repetitively.  In addition, the candidate must be willing to work rotation shifts, weekends, and overtime as business needs dictate.
 
Education and Experience

 
  1. Must have two years of experience as a supervisory bookbinder and meet the following minimum qualifications.
    1. A four-year high school diploma or its education equivalent and three years of satisfactory full-time bookbinding experience in operating various commercial grade machines which assemble, drill, glue, fold, cut and bind printed material; or
    2. Five years of satisfactory full time bookbinding experience operating various commercial grade machines as described in “a” above; or
    3. Education and/or experience equivalent to “a” or “b” above.
 
Education must be approved by a state’s department of education or a recognized accrediting organization.
 
Desired Skills:
Must have excellent administrative, multi-tasking and communication skills.
Must have basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
Must have knowledge of and be able to set-up, operate, troubleshoot, and train others on the following:
 
  • MBO 123 folders w/ 8 & 16pg sections.
  • MBO Perfection w/ 8pg zero makeready plates.
  • 44 inch automatic & programmable cutters.
  • Thieson & Bonitz Collator w/ saddle stich and numbering attachment.
  • GW12000Pneumatic numbering machine w/3 heads.
  • HP 8200 Pagewide Printer w/ Sheeter.
  • GFP Large format lamination machines.
  • Fotoba Large Format cutters.
  • Summa F1612 Flatbed Cutter.
  • Leister manual grommet machine.
  • Canon 10000 Color Copier.
  • TGI PRO B/W high speed copiers.
