Position Title: Visual Design, Emerging Talent Intern
Hourly Rate: $19.00 (Undergraduate)
All internship positions are onsite and require regular, in-person attendance at the designated work location.
OVERVIEW OF DEPARTMENT:
The Emerging Talent team is responsible for attracting, engaging, and developing early-career talent for the MTA. We manage internship programs, student outreach, and recruitment initiatives to build a strong pipeline of future professionals.
The assignment involves creating a library of reusable design assets, such as illustrations and templates and developing branded engagement materials for career fairs, including games, pinwheels, and Q&A boards. The role requires strong design skills, proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, basic video‑editing abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple projects while following brand guidelines.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Designing presentation templates and branded decks used across internship/fellowship programs & Info-Sessions.
- Creating branded materials for career fairs, recruitment events, and university engagements.
- Designing flyers, signage, and digital assets for internal and external events.
- Developing iconography, illustrations, and thematic visuals aligned with Emerging Talent branding.
- Supporting social and digital content needs for talent program spotlights and campaigns.
- Updating and maintaining visual consistency across program documents, guides, and onboarding materials.
- Assisting with layout design for internal communications on MailChimp.
- Supporting the creation of motion graphics or basic video edits for promotional content.
- Collaborating with team members to ensure visuals meet accessibility and brand guidelines.
- Performing additional design-related tasks as assigned.
PROJECTS:
- Design Library Project: Creating a library of reusable design assets (Illustrations & templates).
- Branded Fair Experience Project: Designing engagement assets for career fairs (branded games, pin‑wheels, and or Q&A boards).
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must.
- The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication skills.
- The candidate should be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
- The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player.
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Basic skills in video editing software (Premiere Pro, Final Cut, or similar).
- Strong visual design skills, including typography, layout, and color theory.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow brand guidelines.
- Portfolio showcasing design work is strongly preferred.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
- Matriculated in an undergraduate program in good standing with at least 2.5 GPA.
- Major(s) Preferred: Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Communication Design, Digital Media, Illustration, Media Arts & Design, or related field.
