COMPENSATION

Salary Range: Min. $109,876 – Max. $155,953/ Grade B

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

This position is responsible for coordinating, organizing, and directing a subdivision in the planning, inspection, testing, maintenance, repair, and oversight of a 24 hour-a-day-electrical system. The section is comprised of subsections including Corrosion, Electrical & Electronic Test Sections and Repair Section. Responsibility of assets involve circuitry for continuous power, indications, supervisory, communications, SCADA, control and battery, transmission lines, negative systems, protection circuits/ devices, power conversion equipment, battery backup systems and associated equipment for the transit system. Oversee the SCADA, supervisory, indication and control for remote operation of Power to Substations, Circuit Breaker Houses, and Fan Plant equipment. Coordinate with other groups such as SCADA IT, Third Rail, Hydraulics, Power Substations, Contract Compliance, Cable Section, and Capital Program Management in the performance of work. Respond to trouble calls and emergencies affecting remote power operations of traction power. Troubles and emergencies that include equipment such as but not limited to substation equipment, circuit breakers, Emergency Alarm Panels, Tube Shell Panels, and Cable Sheath Panels. All of which are directly or indirectly associated with providing third rail power for the safe and reliable transport of the riding public. Contract review and oversight from design phase to equipment commissioning of SCADA, supervisory, battery, indication and control as well as associated equipment. This Position will be responsible for responding to emergencies 24/7/365 and can be called upon at any time to respond to major service disruptions.
 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A High School Diploma/GED and eight (8) years of related experience, and five (5) years of experience in a managerial/supervisory capacity; OR A satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems and maintenance management techniques, project management and work train scheduling
  • Knowledge of NYCT and Subways rules, regulations, policies, and procedures with respect to electrical power maintenance and repair.
  • Knowledge of budget practices, material procurement procedures, safety rules and labor contracts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of rapid transit operations.
  • The ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
