Position Summary
This role Leads the Purchasing and Warehouse teams for the Methanex Beaumont site. Focused on directing and managing the team and resources to ensure reliable and quality supply of goods and services at optimum cost and time within the policies and guidelines set by the site and globally. Ensures that all business is conducted to the highest standards of ethics and professionalism and in a manner consistent with Responsible Care®, and within the Methanex Code of Business Conduct in an integrated HSSEQ Management System (Health, Safety, Security, Environmental and Quality).
On an interim basis, this role will report to the Director, Global Procurement.
Responsibilities
- Contract Management
- Facilitates the contract management lifecycle including contract execution in adherence with the global standard and proper documentation/log of active agreements.
- Ensures all procurement and contractual activities are handled in a professional and ethical manner and confidentiality of commercial information is always maintained.
- Ensures the appropriate level of financial controls are in place which enable the end user to carry out their work effectively and efficiently.
- Implements supply arrangements that minimize inventory levels without impairing availability or quality.
- Negotiates the acquisition of goods and services required for company activities at optimum cost, in compliance with company procedures and consistent with standards of quality and delivery.
- Ensures contract terms and conditions are kept up to date and minimizes commercial risk to Methanex.
- Provides advice and where appropriate accesses professional legal advice on matters that are of a contractual nature or that may expose the company to financial or legal risk.
- Manage Infrastructure of Procurement Systems
- Manages the infrastructure of Procurement Systems (Org Chart, Department Procedures, Department Processes, Implementation of new tools, KMI Management, Intra and Interdepartmental process improvements, etc.).
- Identify, develop, establish and maintain best in class systems, policies and procedures for the site procurement, contracts and warehouse functions.
- Facilitates training/knowledge transfer to the organization about procurement policies to ensure adherence to protect Methanex from liability and unnecessary cost.
- Ensures all regional procedures are compliant with Global Standards.
- Reviews and approves procurement procedure deviations at the regional level.
- Acts as an interdepartmental liaison to maintain knowledge of end-to-end business processes.
- Develops and actively manages key performance metrics to monitor the effectiveness and efficiency of purchasing and warehouse performance. Also develops and manages similar metrics for individual performance.
- Ensures that the appropriate software systems and tools are in place to foster efficiency of processes.
- Warehouse
- Manages Inventory and Material Management systems to ensure that the warehouse is stocked appropriately to ensure plant reliability while balancing low cost and quality deliverables.
- Ensures back up in the Warehouse(s) during periods of absence.
- Provides a service as required by the SMT to dispose of surplus and/or obsolete equipment.
- Leadership
- Facilitates Purchasing and Warehouse activity management in alignment with site project initiatives.
- Manages direct reports’ priorities and workload.
- Ensures Employee and contractor compliance with Methanex policies, procedures, and applicable standard
- Involves the team in developing and actioning the annual department plan. Ensure alignment with site business plan, Global Procurement Strategy, and Corporate Strategy
- Effectively communicates current activities and policies
- Ensures implementation of and compliance with all Methanex HR policies and procedures
- Provides regular mentoring, coaching and development to team members.
- Ensures technical skills of all staff are maintained at an adequate level to effectively support the business.
- Develops and actively manages the annual department plan, team goals and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Provides technical leadership around best procurement and contract management practices and systems.
- Ensures proactive engagement with external departments to understand site activities, impacts to procurement and to consult on how procurement can support site activities.
- Provides project management support for procurement strategic initiatives.
- Vendor Management
- Manages the Vendor Life Cycle Process Management which includes qualification, onboarding, performance management and continuous improvement. Engages with vendors to protect Methanex’s reputation.
- Acts as a point of contact for strategic vendor communications.
- Oversees vendor negotiations and conflict resolution as required.
- General
- Actively participates as a member of Global Purchasing Team (GPT) and other global teams or global initiatives as delegated.
- Implement GPT best practices and procedures.
- Networks with other Methanex sites to the mutual benefit of all sites.
- Responsible for ensuring awareness of all controlled documents relating to this position
Qualifications
Education, Experience, and/or Training
- Bachelor’s degree in commerce, business or a combination of education/work experience.
- 5-7 years of experience (or a combination of experience) in contract administration, material management, commercial management and procurement in an industrial setting
- Knowledge of warehouse procedures and computerized procurement/stores/maintenance Asset Management systems (i.e. Maximo).

- Employees must be able to lift and/or move more than 20 pounds.
- Requires sitting for extensive periods of time.
- Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
Work Schedule
- Monday – Friday, working the 9/80 schedule.
- May work additional hours and days, including weekends and holidays as required.
Travel
- Less than 10% of the time.
