Position Summary
The Commercial Analyst will support the Product Manager in the understanding of regional and global methanol markets, regional marketing strategy and related projects. The Commercial Analyst is primarily responsible for monitoring, understanding regional methanol supply and demand drivers and formulating a clear and concise view on impact to NA methanol market. In addition, the Commercial Analyst is responsible for providing different analysis on the NA methanol demand forecast, sales portfolio among others to support development of the marketing strategy.
Position Responsibilities
The Commercial Analyst will work closely with the Product Manager to develop and maintain a comprehensive overview of the North America methanol market supply and demand fundamentals by gathering and analyzing data, including but not limited to:
• Understand methanol demand drivers, gather and analyze economic data/forecast to make predictions.
• Manage the North America monthly demand forecast process.
• Reconcile Methanex sales forecast with demand data. Identify segment trends in support of sales strategy formulation and execution.
• Maintain supply and demand assumptions in Methanex’s market intelligence system (MIS) and other databases, including intelligence on operating capability and economics.
• Gather, analyze, and present North America methanol trade statistics, including integration of exports into Trade Flows report. Distribute quarterly competitive updates, including analysis of trade data and reconciliation of implied demand figures.
• Competitive analysis to support the understanding and prediction of competitor strategies.
• Collect and summarize competitive information on new methanol projects and report regularly.
• Support the monthly pricing process through consolidation of pricing feedback and posting monthly price.

Position Qualifications
• University degree and 5 years’ experience.
• Marketing or analytical experience, preferably in chemical/commodities-related industry, is an asset.
