Asset Integrity Engineer
Description
Position Purpose
The Asset Integrity Engineer is responsible for ensuring the integrity, reliability, and fitness-for-service of all static plant assets through structured inspection programs and best-in-class asset integrity practices. The role supports safe, reliable, and cost-effective plant operation by minimizing the likelihood of static equipment failure, extending asset life, and ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements, engineering codes, and Responsible Care standards.
Key Responsibilities
Inspection & Asset Integrity Management
- Execute and manage daily, weekly, monthly, and campaign-based inspection activities using structured inspection systems and approved procedures.
- Develop, implement, and maintain risk-based inspection (RBI) programs for static equipment to ensure integrity, fitness-for-service, and optimized inspection intervals.
- Review and update inspection programs in line with applicable codes, standards, vendor recommendations, and company best practices.
- Ensure all assets operate within their design envelope and Integrity Operating Windows (IOW), recording excursions and proposing corrective actions.
- Plan and execute inspection activities for plant shutdowns and turnarounds in coordination with Planning and the Asset Integrity Supervisor.
- Ensure repairs, welding, and modifications are designed, executed, and tested in accordance with accepted engineering standards, including development of procedures and ITPs.
Contractor & Vendor Management
- Define, review, and manage contractor scopes of work (SOW) and RC requirements to ensure safe, compliant, and cost-effective execution.
- Supervise and evaluate contractor performance, implementing corrective actions and optimizing manpower utilization.
- Ensure contractors are trained, equipped, and aligned with Methanex culture, safety standards, and performance expectations.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors, OEMs, and service providers to ensure timely support and competitive commercial outcomes.
Systems, Data & Documentation
- Ensure inspection plans, reports, findings, action tracking, and asset records are accurately maintained within CMMS systems (MAXIMO / RBI upon readiness).
- Maintain complete and traceable records for inspections, repairs, modifications, corrosion monitoring, and integrity assessments.
- Establish performance measurement systems to track integrity risks, overdue inspections, corrective actions, leaks, and PSV performance.
Engineering, Safety & Continuous Improvement
- Support Management of Change (MOC) processes for all integrity-related improvements and modifications.
- Participate in HAZOP studies, RCA/RCFA investigations, and ensure effective action plans are implemented.
- Oversee corrosion monitoring, analysis, prevention programs, cathodic protection systems, and coating maintenance plans.
- Ensure new and modified equipment complies with company, regulatory, and inspection code requirements.
- Act as a Methanex ambassador by demonstrating company values, professionalism, and Responsible Care leadership.
- Comply fully with site safety rules, permit-to-work systems, PPE requirements, and all RC initiatives.
