Role Summary

You will be part of a team supporting the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP) providing support to underserved applicants preparing to respond to the RCPP Notice of Funding Opportunity (NFO). In support of this project, MPC is seeking an SME with knowledge of the NRCS mission, program objectives, and organizational structure at national, state, area, and field office levels and the interactions between each of these. to be able to coordinate and implement RCPP NFO. You will interface with the RCPP team, client stakeholders to support the development of informational materials and webinars, as well as with selected applicants to support their application development. This is a part-time position.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Providing subject matter expertise to support the development of informational and training materials, including webinars and FAQs 
  • Advising applicants responding to the RCPP NFO on application strategy and content to meet program requirements.

What We Need From You (Required) 

  • In-depth knowledge of NRCS and RCPP programs, policies, and procedures, as well as Farm Bill programs requirements.
  • Familiarity with conservation programs, HEL and Wetland Provisions of the Food Security Act (as amended), eligibility requirements for landowner participation, compliance criteria, and payment provisions for individuals and conservation organizations upon successful application of conservation practices.
  • Understanding of theories, principles, concepts, and terminology of economics in relationship to natural resources planning in order to assist in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of economic data as relates to recurring and conventional agency projects and programs.
  • Knowledge of NRCS program delivery tools such as, but not limited to, ProTracts, Conservation Desktop, Conservation Assessment Ranking Tool (CART) and Select Application Tool (SAT) in order to facilitate discussion between NFO applicants and State RCPP Coordinators.
