Role Summary
MetaPhase Consulting is seeking a skilled Cloud Engineer/Architect to join our team to support a federal customer’s cloud computing offerings. The Architect will provide professional and secure technical design, implementation and operational services and assist customers to deploy solutions using cloud computing services. You will configure tools to meet the business, policy and security risk tolerance of our demanding customers and engage with security analysts to document how required security controls are met through tools and associated implementation. You will work as part of an Agile DevSecOps team and work closely with the Product Owner, Scrum Master, and other cloud and security engineers.
This position requires in-depth knowledge of AWS, Azure, and/or GCP services, cloud computing, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and the ability to clearly communicate architectural trade-offs/design options so that the Product Owner can make informed decisions. The successful candidate will be a motivated team-player with the desire and ability to work in a fast-paced, exciting environment.
What You Will Be Doing
- Engineering, implementing, and operating solutions on clouds such as AWS, Google, and Microsoft Azure that manage risk and meet relevant security regulations, controls and policy.
- Define innovative solutions using concepts such as infrastructure-as-code, deployment orchestrations, CI/CD pipelines, and automation templates.
- Determine how to leverage services from cloud providers and identify gaps that must be met through other tools, software, or 3rd party services.
- Implement tools/services ranging from OS hardening, ACL/NACL flow control, web application firewalls, SIEM (e.g, Splunk), intrusion detection, and vulnerability management.
- Participate in assessment of system security controls to validate control implementation and identify weaknesses, and assist with any required remediation activities.
What We Need From You (Required)
- 7+ years of overall industry experience including Infrastructure, Engineering & Consulting.
- Must have 3+ years of work experience architecting and engineering Enterprise Cloud Platform technologies such as Azure, AWS, and/or GCP.
- Must have hands-on experience with Terraform or similar Infrastructure as Code Tools, along with Bash or Powershell scripting.
- Must have experience building and automating CI/CD pipelines using Gitlab or equivalent; building infrastructure; and automating service deployment leveraging scripting capabilities and infrastructure-as-code best practices
- Active DOD/DSS SECRET security clearance or higher
- At least one relevant advanced certification strongly preferred, such as:
- AWS Solutions Architect - Professional
- Azure Solutions Architect Expert
- Google Certified Professional Cloud Architect
- Strong analytical skills with solid verbal and written communication skills
- Shows initiative, presents ideas to overcome challenges, self-starter, and a passion for continuous learning.
Bonus Points (Desired)
- Prior experience supporting Federal Government clients
- Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems.
- Experience deploying and operating tools and technologies such as:
- Hashicorp Terraform
- Azure CLI
- AWS CLI
- Google Cloud CLI
- Bash
- PowerShell
- GitLab CI
- Kubernetes
- Experience with FISMA, FedRAMP, and NIST SP 800-53

Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or a related field
Clearance Level
Active Secret (or above) Clearance Required; U.S. Citizenship required (NO EXCEPTIONS)
Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $150K-190K.
