Role Summary

You will be part of a team supporting the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development (RD) Technology Office (RDTO) portfolio management with a focus on implementing lean and iterative governance processes. In support of this project, MPC is seeking an SME with relevant experience across the IT domain, which may include development, operations, finance, product/project management, or strategy, particularly in Agile and SAFe environments. You will interface with IT leadership in a strategic and advisory capacity as well as be hands-on in understanding and implementing governance strategies, processes, and tools.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Developing governance strategies in consultation with client senior leadership
  • Analyzing current tools and processes and designing strategies for adopting agile best practices
  • Training and coaching IT project managers in SDLC and related governance activities
  • Coaching senior managers in tools and processes to ensure adoption of best practices from the top down
  • Communicating scalable, lean, and continuous governance principles and practices as well as their application to IT project governance strategy and operations
  • Championing the use of metrics and other objective measures and contributing to the development of reports and dashboards
  • Project management duties to include reporting on project status, communication with clients and producing deliverables (weekly and monthly)

What We Need From You (Required)

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in IT in the areas of development, operations, finance, product/project management, and/or strategy
  • Federal consulting experience
  • Ability to coach, train, and educate
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills

Bonus Points (Desired)

  • Agile Coaching and/or Agile practitioner certification (e.g. CSM, CEC, ICAgile)
  • Experience using Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
  • USDA experience
  • Active PMP

Occasional travel to client site in DC and MPC HQ (not required)

Education Level

Bachelor’s Degree and 8+ years of experience OR 10+ years of experience without a degree

Clearance Level

Ability to Obtain a Public Trust; U.S. Citizenship required (NO EXCEPTIONS)
