POSITION SUMMARY
The Enterprise Services Engineer is a hands-on technical resource that provides L2/L3 support for our enterprise customers. This individual will have a general understanding of many infrastructure technology verticals and operating systems and should have at least one core area of expertise. The candidate will need to have strong communication and problem-solving skills along with a strong willingness to learn new technologies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Involving in DR Drill Restore of client servers;
- Within RTO&RPO the backup data restored to client Servers;
- Perform morning checks related to DR Restores;
- Monthly maintenance of commserve by recycling services and rebooting;
- Commvault Server/Client Installation;
- Perform root cause analysis for backup failures;
- Configuration/de-activation of backup policies for new and de-commissioned clients;
- Configuring tape drives/ tape drive cleaning and stuck media removal;
- Configuring tape libraries like HP MSL 2048, 2024, 1x8 autoloaders and standalone tape drives;
- Upgrading service pack for all the clients in timely manner;
- Pro-actively monitor for the slow backups, Hung jobs, long queued Jobs in the environment and take necessary action;
- Managing and configuring reports for critical backup failures;
- Configuring SAP HANA, Sybase, MAXDB, Oracle, SQL, Windows FS, Linux FS, SAP Oracle, Backups;
- Check readiness of media agent and communication issue trouble shooting;
- Knowledge of configuring disk library and upgrade of IBM& HP tape library;
Review Media Agent available space; - Configure and troubleshoot VM backups on Hyper- V & VMware;
- Perform Restores for client data which includes File system, and SQL, Oracle, SAP HANA, Sybase Oracle RAC Backups;
- DR restoration on a monthly basis for mission critical servers and checking the data integrity
Upgrade Commserve and Media agents to latest SP level; - Troubleshooting SAP HANA, SYBASE backups, SQL backups, ORACLE and Windows File system & Linux FS backups;
- Sending Daily Reports of Backup Failures, Capacity management to the clients;
- Analyzing the Major incidents which occur in Day-to-Day operation;
- Attending conference calls with vendors, resolver groups and management;
- Analyze and resolve escalated problems;
- Restorations of the files, folders, System State, and some databases as per request from clients;
- Perform morning checks related to backups;
- Address backup failures and perform restores;
- Troubleshooting and resolving backup failures due to hardware and software errors;
- Troubleshooting Commvault server related problems;
- Backup Analyst, perform basic trouble shooting of backup failures and perform restores on-demand;
- Assist in adding clients to backup domain for purposes of backup;
- Media management (Recalling tapes from offsite and coordinating with vendor to deliver it onsite. Tape loading / Unloading);
- Taking care of escalated Adhoc Backup and Restoration Requests;
- Ensure that customer satisfactory levels are exceeded;
- Actively worked on projects[New installations of Commvault];
- Worked on upgrade of Commserve and media agents to version11;
- Creating storage policies, sub-client policies and schedule policies;
- Maintaining tape library and resolving tape issues by recycling drives IBM library GUI;
- For drive down issues coordinated IBM and Datacenter to resolve drive issues;
- Balancing space issues on disk library by running Data aging and Aux copy jobs regularly;
- Discussing failures and remediation techniques in team meetings on daily basis.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- 7+ years' experience as a technical IT resource
- 5+ years supporting or delivering in an enterprise-level environment
- Experience in the following technology areas, expertise in 3
