Project/Consultancy Title: Strategic Support for Private Gulf Donors and Global Business Development Strategy

Purpose / Project Description:  
This consultancy will provide strategic support to inform cultivation efforts for Gulf-based donors, evolve due diligence processes, and to kick-start the development of a global business development strategy for institutional donors.   
  
Consultant Activities & Deliverables:  
The Consultant will:  
  • Provide strategic support for a newly established portfolio of Gulf-based prospects, including (but not limited to) input to moves management plans, review of concept notes and stewardship materials, and meeting prep for high-level stakeholders. (8 days)
  • Review Mercy Corps’ current due diligence process and provide recommendations on how to adapt for Gulf-based donors. (2 days)
  • Conduct a review of current internal documents (1.5 days)
  • Conduct interviews with relevant teams (2.5 days)
  • Develop an outline for a comprehensive business development strategy that includes a pillar for institutional funding and one for private funding (2 days)
  • Provide recommendations/direction for MC’s business development strategy (4 days)
Timeframe / Schedule:  August/September -December 1, 2024  
The Consultant will report to: Chief Development Officer and Chief Operating Officer  
The Consultant will work closely with: Chief Development Officer, Director of Foundation Partnerships, Chief Operating Officer, New Initiatives, European office representatives, Strategic Institutional Partnership teams, and regional business development representatives.   
Required Experience & Skills: 
  • Expertise in trends for donor priorities in the Gulf. 
  • Experience soliciting and securing 7 and 8 figure awards from Gulf Donors. 
  • Experience in crafting a business development strategy that encompasses multiple donor audiences and revenue streams. 
  • Experience in the humanitarian sector.
