Summary:

As the New Restaurant Opening Manager, you will manage and oversee all aspects of the planning and training process of new store openings.  You will identify new talent, as well as train and develop a growing team of NRO Trainers.  As a strategic partner you will collaborate with several departments, including but not limited to Marketing, Development, IT, Talent, and Accounting.  You must be skilled at selling the brand, developing our training bench, demonstrating our core values, and driving Mendo’s standards, as well as our culture.  

The New Restaurant Opening Manager role falls within the Operations department and partners closely with the Vice President of Operations Services.  This is a cross-functional position in which you will interact regularly with every department at Base Camp, as well as Managers and Team Members alike. 

Responsibilities:

  • NRO project management leader who helps develop training material as well as training operators, trainers, and directors to deliver the material.
  • Ensure the highest levels of training standards at all NROs.
  • Provide coaching and development support based on individuals training performance during scheduled field visits and one-on-one calls with each NRO Lead.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with the development team to deliver training for new restaurants according to the development team’s schedule.
  • Positively support new company initiatives and rollouts based on operations priorities.
  • Have innate technical expertise with all facets of operation procedures.
  • Collect information about successes/challenges/opportunities of new restaurant openings, share appropriate information to refine and improve processes.
  • Review quarterly and yearly training results related to operations priorities and KPIs to identify gaps and develop training plans to address opportunities 

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years relevant experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Prefer previous Restaurant management experience as well as new restaurant openings experience
  • Leadership: demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others
  • Planning: Ability to think ahead and plan over a one –to two-year span
  • Management: Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office, and experience with using Excel
  • High-performance teams and a strong team player
  • Skill in assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects, and demands
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
  • Sitting / standing / walking 8-10 hours.
  • Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
  • Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching
  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
  • Exposure to temperatures:
    • 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators)
    • >90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Ability to work in a wet and cold environment.
  • Ability to use restaurant tools and equipment
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed, especially during openings
  • Able to travel for extended periods of time
