QA Engineer I
Description
What We’re Looking For:
We’re looking for an entry-level QA Engineer to join our Global QA Engineering team at Meltwater. In this role, you’ll build a strong foundation in end-to-end testing processes while working closely with cross-functional teams. You’ll execute test cases, identify and document defects, and contribute to ensuring high-quality product releases. This is an ideal opportunity for someone early in their career who is curious, detail-oriented, and eager to grow in a fast-paced SaaS environment with mentorship from senior QA engineers.
What You'll Do:
- Execute manual test cases across bug/defect workflows, new feature development, and regression/E2E testing
- Identify, document, and track bugs with clear reproduction steps, expected vs. actual results, and supporting evidence (screenshots, logs, videos)
- Perform exploratory testing to uncover edge cases and potential issues in new or updated features
- Run smoke and sanity tests across staging and feature branch environments
- Create and maintain test cases in JIRA, linking them to relevant epics and user stories
- Validate features against acceptance criteria and flag gaps or inconsistencies
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to triage and resolve defects
- Participate in daily standups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and feature kickoffs
- Respond to async team communication and provide updates on testing progress and risks
- Begin developing automation skills (e.g., Playwright) under mentorship and contribute to QA peer reviews
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Basic understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and testing fundamentals
- Familiarity with at least one programming language (e.g., Python, JavaScript, or Java)
- Exposure to web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and REST APIs (academic or project-based)
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- A proactive, curious mindset with a strong desire to learn and grow in QA
Nice to Have:
- ISTQB certification or relevant coursework
- Experience with JIRA or similar bug-tracking tools
- Basic knowledge of SQL and databases
- Familiarity with Git/version control
- Exposure to automation tools like Playwright or Selenium
- QA-related internships, bootcamps, or hands-on projects
