About the Role: Media Monitoring Intern - Chinese Language Proficiency (5 to 6 months)
Media analysts on this Team are responsible for identifying, processing and reporting mainstream media and social media intelligence in the form of timely alerts and reports around the clock for a Government client. The Team executes monitoring operations across four shifts at the timings indicated below (8 hours + 1 hour break). 
  • Shift 1: 0330hrs - 1230hrs
  • Shift 2: 0900hrs - 1800hrs
  • Shift 3: 1530hrs - 0030hrs
  • Shift 4: 2000hrs - 0500hrs
As an intern on this Team, you would benefit from:
  • Hands-on practical training on media monitoring and use of the Meltwater platform
  • Mentorship from experienced Media Analysts through being embedded in the respective shifts
  • Opportunity to bridge academic knowledge and skills through involvement in an actual client project
  • Regular rotation across the shifts to gain exposure to the breadth of services provided to the client
What You’ll Do:
  • Prioritise and manage all alerting and reporting requirements when on shift 
  • Uphold the Service-Level Agreements established with the client, particularly factual accuracy, formatting and turnaround times
  • Translate and summarise news articles and/or TV/radio broadcasts from Chinese into English
  • Combine the summaries of news articles with the same topic for a daily morning report for the client
  • Create process efficiencies through automation, particularly through Google Sheets equations and scripts
Who You Are:
  • Does not require work sponsorship
  • Completed or entering the final year of your Bachelor’s Degree 
  • Proficient in Chinese language to be able to translate from Chinese into English
  • Able to commit for 5 to 6 months
  • Willing to work odd hours and on the weekends regularly where required
  • Willing to work in office during the training phase and periods of high volume   
The ideal candidates would:
  • Be keen to explore media monitoring operations before committing to a full-time role
  • Be familiar with Google Sheets equations and scripts
  • Pay close attention to detail and accuracy in their work
  • Handle tight deadlines and pressure well
  • Thrive in a collaborative working environment
  • Have an interest in Singapore’s geopolitics or current affairs
Other Information:
  • Monday to Friday
    • 1pm to 4am - $15/hour
    • 4am to 1pm - $20/hour
  • Saturday to Sunday
    • 1pm to 4am - $20/hour
    • 4am to 1pm - $25/hour
  • Tamil language candidates must be able to cover Shifts 1 and/or 3

  • Successful interns may be offered a full-time position if deemed suitable, subject to availability and performance
