The Software Engineering Function is responsible for hands-on development of Medidata’s software applications and takes pride in knowing that the solutions we craft today are helping to develop new medicines that shape the world of tomorrow.
The Lead Engineer is one who has very strong hands-on backend java experience and has worked in a fast paced dynamic global Engineering team building and supporting enterprise level SaaS systems.
As well as enjoying building complex software systems, you will also have the ability to guide and mentor a group of software and test engineers translating product requirements into software specifications and ensuring key development milestones and high quality outputs are delivered.
You will have experience of working very quickly to resolve high impact, challenging, engineering problems while continuously raising the standard of quality.
7 years of IT experience in Object Oriented development, testing, and support of Enterprise-grade applications using J2EE technologies, ideally in an AWS environment.
Experienced in all phases of SDLC including analysis, design, coding and testing, expertise in integration using J2EE architecture in an Agile environment leveraging a TDD philosophy.
Strong skills in Server Side Java, Spring, SpringBoot, Hibernate, REST, Maven, Github and other open source Java Libraries.
Database design, programming, tuning and query optimization, preferably with MySQL.
Responsible for designing, building, and maintaining complex software systems with stringent up-time requirements. Experience with Document Management and associated technologies is a strong plus.
Expertise in software: Linux, Apache, Tomcat and MySQL.
Test methodologies and testing tools, e.g., TestNG, JUnit, Silk, TOSCA.
Expertise in leveraging effective DevOps based SRE principles to enhance software development and support capabilities.
Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and guide and mentor a team of engineers.
Experience in software configuration management and streaming strategies for large parallel development teams.
Thrives in a team environment and able to collaborate effectively with remote teams across time zones is essential.
Strong verbal and writing skills; ability to thoroughly understand product specifications, and ability to produce clear, concise documentation.
Experience of working in a compliance oriented environment.
Project planning ability, experience in managing small development teams.
Knowledge of QA automation processes and tools preferred.
Your Education & Experience:
Typically requires a minimum of 7 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
Prior experience from on commercial B2B / Enterprise SaaS offerings, involving documents and/or workflow / process
