Sr. Business Analyst

The Acorn AI Data Operations team is looking for a smart, driven Business Analyst to help drive our analytic solutions, enabling Acorn AI customers to efficiently design, plan and execute their clinical trials. This key role will interface with data curators, product owners, data science engineers and business leaders to address the biggest challenges we face today in the clinical trial data and technology space. The ultimate measure of success will be the establishment of scalable systems and processes to manage and enhance our data, creating data-driven solutions and focus on continuous improvement in Data Operations.
Be a leader, backlog owner and expert to manage data curation, standardization and analysis projects: document milestones and timelines, monitor progress, and identify and resolve impediments
Interact with product management, internal subject matter experts, technical services, and data scientists, to understand key requirements
Create and own detailed use cases, supporting functional requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria
Evaluate systems and operating models to identify areas for efficiency and continuous improvement
Facilitate integration of new data sources/elements for analytics and business intelligence products, and provide ongoing monitoring of data sources and data assets.
Develop key messaging, presentations and communication material for business audience; coordinate cross-functional training and communication
Adopt and promote best practices, tools, and methods; maintain policies and procedures.
Familiarity with analytics and business intelligence concepts such as data models, programming, statistical modeling, machine learning, data visualization
Familiarity with life science ontologies including medical diagnosis and procedure coding vocabularies (e.g. UMLS, HL-7, SNOMED, ICD-10, CPT)
Can quickly and easily translate business requirements into functional requirements, well-defined user stories with acceptance criteria
Results-driven, data-driven, entrepreneurial, and action-oriented
Ability to manage work in teams of widely varying skills and levels
Demonstrated creative problem solving, analytical and organizational skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and attention to detail
Proficiency in Agile principles and methodologies
Working knowledge of Atlassian product suite (e.g. JIRA, Confluence)
Advanced skills in common business software (e.g., MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
Nice to have, but not required:
Experience as a business analyst on a data science team, technology consultant, or product manager of analytics or operational based software (e.g. clinical operations, study design, CTMS, EDC)
Proficiency in SQL and/or other programming languages (e.g. SAS, Python or R)
Your Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a life science, or quantitative or business discipline (business administration, management information systems, computer science, engineering, statistics or a related field) and a minimum of 5 years of related experience; or an advanced degree and 3 years of work experience; or equivalent work experience.
