Your Mission: 

The massive growth in the availability of medical-grade wearable devices, as well as the technology to effectively process and understand the high-frequency biometric data these devices produce, has created new opportunities to extend the ambit of clinical research. Medidata has undertaken to build an event-driven data platform to ingest, normalize and process clinical sensor data that is a first in industry solution to address this growing demand. Your role in this endeavor will be to leverage modern, cloud-agnostic, microservice architectural design principles to build a highly scalable data platform to support diverse function-as-a-service and streaming data workloads.

Your Competencies:

  • Provide technology leadership to a diverse, remote engineering team

  • Create and manage production microservice application architectures

  • Create and manage complex, stateful Kubernetes architectures in production

  • Use public cloud container orchestration systems at AWS, Google and Azure

  • Create and manage scalable, production grade streaming compute clusters that include Kafka and Flink or Spark

  • Deploy and support event-driven function-as-a-service frameworks

  • Evaluate and implement alternative very large data storage schemes with an eye to balancing cost and efficiency

Your Education & Experience:

  • A seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of microservice and event-driven architecture, having resolved a wide range of issues in creative ways
  • You have demonstrated good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions and have successfully led other engineers to implement those solutions
  • You have a minimum of 5 years of related experience as a leader of technology and architecture with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree
