Medidata is looking for a Legal Assistant who will work closely with the Legal Operations Senior Manager and other senior members of the Legal team, including the General Counsel, in Medidata’s New York Office. Legal Assistant will provide high-level support and direct assistance on complex and highly sensitive legal and administrative matters.
Assist the Legal Operations Senior Manager with supporting the day-to-day operations of a global legal department.
Provide administrative support to the legal team, including arranging conference calls and meetings; organizing and maintaining calendars; and coordinating travel and preparing expense reports.
Draft correspondence, reports and other materials as requested.
Handle internal and external requests for information and conduct legal research as requested.
Coordinate the collection of legal accruals and invoices; assist with matter management and the management of financial data in the department’s e-billing system.
Maintain and update the company’s corporate entity structure and subsidiary portfolio, as required and in compliance with local jurisdictions; draft corporate resolutions and prepare corporate entity filings.
Maintain and update the Legal department’s physical and electronic files, documents, and record books in accordance with the company’s records retention policy.
Assist with the maintenance of the company’s intellectual property portfolio; track patent and trademark applications, deadlines, and filing fees; and assist with the execution of the company’s patent program.
Assist the commercial team with the review of contracts for special projects.

High degree of professionalism and discretion, sound judgment and integrity, and the ability to maintain strict confidence absolutely required.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and proactively, with sometimes little to no supervision; demonstrates initiative.
Strong decision making ability and analytical thinking.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and Google Apps (Gmail, Google Drive).
Online legal research skills a plus.
Project management experience a plus.
Experience with administration of data protection exhibits a plus.
Knowledge of Thomson Reuters Legal Tracker a plus.
Notary public license a plus.
Your Education and Experience:
3-7 years as a Legal Assistant, preferably in a law firm or in-house legal department
