The Change Management Senior Director is responsible for designing and leading client Change Management services for major, large-scale change initiatives. These initiatives may result from a client purchase of Medidata technologies, or from a significant version upgrade of a client’s existing Medidata installations. Change management can be an essential element of overall client success and satisfaction. The Change Management Senior Director is an experienced technical leader who is passionate about customer success, knowledgeable about the complex, interconnected components of a comprehensive Change Management program, and relentless in driving successful program implementations.
The Change Management Senior Director's primary responsibility is to lead the design and successful implementation of major change management (CM) programs. The CM Senior Director does this by bringing their deep understanding of clinical development process and technology change efforts to the Medidata and client ecosystem, working across Medidata internal disciplines to design strong, appropriate CM programs, and working across Medidata, client, and third-party providers to drive world-class implementation. This will involve:
Analyzing the extent of change resulting from a given initiative (Stakeholder analysis, user impact, process impacts)
Designing comprehensive change management programs specific to a given transformation initiative or event, including
Approaches for technology configuration optimization and implementation consultation
Technology-specific trainings and workshops
Consultation on process design and implementation
Evaluation of people readiness (roles, talent)
Evaluation of existing processes/SOPs and change recommendation
Guidance on rewards/incentives and personnel/leadership commitment plans
Defining adoption and performance metrics
Internal client communication plan guidance
Client-specific roll-out strategies
Networking with clients to gain input and improve CM plans
Managing implementation of CM plans, from initial rollout to a select few clients, to broad roll-out across many clients
Participation in CM service pricing and marketing strategy
Selecting and managing any third parties to help deliver CM services
Tracking, evaluating, and improving on client feedback on and success with Medidata CM services
Deep experience in clinical development, especially demonstrating expert knowledge of large-scale change initiatives in this arena
Strong strategic thinking and leadership skills, complemented by technical and organizational aptitude
Demonstrated ability to drive multiple, complex projects to success at executive levels
Demonstrated ability to direct cross-functional teams both internally and externally
Strong, clear communicator with executive presence; has excellent command of public speaking and presentation skills
Exhibits sound, data-driven decision making on multiple, interrelated complex problems
Able to form "trusted mentor" relationships with clients and influence at all levels of client organizations including C-Suite personnel
Exercises wide latitude in determining objectives and approaches to critical assignments including resource management
Must be able to lead stakeholder interactions with confidence, and bring groups of diverse personalities and executive seniority to consensus
Strong business acumen
Able to travel as necessary, including globally (+30% travel)
Your Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
15+ years in clinical development or related field, showing progression/promotion
5+ years experience working at a clinical development sponsor or CRO company
5+ years experience with technology/process-drive organizational change management initiatives
