Your Mission:

As a Business Development Specialist, you will partner with Sales Executives to develop relationships with prospective and existing customers with the goal of acquiring new customers and/or selling additional products or services to existing customers.

  • Connect and build relationships with new and existing contacts within territories or accounts covered by your aligned Sales Execs.

  • Respond to inbound leads generated from trade shows, webinars, and other events.

  • Research and profile companies in the pharmaceutical, biotech, and contract research organization (CRO) industries through the Internet, industry publications, and third party tools to identify new targets and selling opportunities.

  • Work with Sales to identify high priority accounts and contacts for prospecting efforts

  • Prospect within assigned accounts/territories to build relationships with new and existing contacts

  • 10% travel: Participate in industry events and company-sponsored events designed to stimulate more brand and product awareness

  • Support highly-targeted outbound business development campaigns

  • Educate prospects on the portfolio of Medidata solutions, providing high-level overview of use cases, functionality, and benefits

  • Coordinate warm lead hand-off from outside lead generation group to your aligned Sales Execs.

  • Support the Sales process by securing NDAs with prospects to enable discovery

  • Coordinate product demonstrations with Area Sales Representatives / Account Managers and Solutions Consultants

  • Maintain customer and prospect contacts within the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database

Your Competencies:

  • High-level of comfort of computer usage in a web-based environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Solid analytical and technical skills

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Self-motivated, able to assume responsibility and work in a professional team environment

  • Passionate and with a high-level of curiosity and interest in learning.

Your Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences, or Business preferred, or equivalent relevant experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years of previous technical telesales experience

  • Enterprise software or other complex sales experience

  • Life Sciences i.e., pharma/biotech/medical device or SaaS experience a plus, particularly within Clinical R&D
