The Manager, Engineering will manage the engineering team responsible for maintaining and enhancing the internal systems and applications at Medidata Duties include sizing and delivering functionality defined in Sprints, coaching and mentoring staff in SLDC best practices, overseeing production deployments, and resolving system issues.
Provides leadership to the Software Delivery Team, Manages the sizing and delivery of enhancements and bug fixes to internal systems in monthly sprints
Ensure projects are planned, estimated, scheduled and delivered on-time with high quality
Strong advocate for development process, and culture of continuous improvement
Organize and execute retrospectives to improve process and quality of delivery
Manage priorities and day to day operations of Engineering staff
Owner of production deployments
Leads or oversees application production level 3 support
Develops staff by identifying developmental assignments and training opportunities, working with individuals on their personal goals, delegating responsibilities and providing timely feedback
Managing teams following an agile Software Development Life Cycle
Ability to communicate and update senior management and business on high-severity or potential customer impacting production incidents, issues and risks
Ability to communicate effectively across the organization
Ability to size items for fit in Sprint Cycles
Ability to identify and reduce technical debt in planning
Ability to negotiate timelines and delivery of items
Your Education and Experience:
5+ Years of progressive information technology experience managing engineering staff in fast paced, rapidly changing environments
Four-year college degree in computer science, engineering or applied mathematics preferable
Superior organization, written communication and verbal communication skills
Experience with Agile Project Management
Experience with Salesforce.com
