Your Mission:

The Workday Financial Systems Engineer role is a newly created position that will be based in Medidata’s Global headquarters in New York City and report to the Director, Accounting Systems and Processes. You will be responsible for optimizing and automating key Finance business processes across systems, including but not limited to Workday Integrations, Security and Financials. The engineer will work closely with colleagues at Medidata’s parent company, Dassault Systemes, to drive further alignment and integration of Medidata’s tools and processes. In this capacity, the Financial Systems & Integrations Engineer will support maintaining our Workday footprint and serve as a crucial support resource for members across the Finance team, addressing systems challenges and questions. In addition, the engineer will collaborate with Finance and non-Finance stakeholders, to define business requirements in order to design, test and implement systems solutions, striving to continually enhance our systems landscape. Your Commitments:

System & Process Optimization

  • Maintain & develop financial systems process documentations and implement best practices, to ensure scalability and validate system accuracy.

  • Translate complex business processes into workable system requirements and solutions by managing the testing, implementation and maintenance of such solutions.

  • Understand and sustain various integrations between Workday, PeopleSoft, and other systems

  • Support internal and external audits, ensuring data integrity and timeliness.

Workday Support & Implementation Resource

  • Support end-users working in our Workday Financial systems by managing security administration, creating and maintaining existing security roles, and provide new users access to different components of the tool.

  • Ability to partner with and maintain strong professional relationships with  HR, FP&A, Tax, Procurement, Accounting, Account Payable, Project Billing and Revenue Recognition to analyze and gather business requirements, translate into functional and technical designs, and implement relevant solutions within Workday Financials and other software tools.

  • Provide system support and training for Finance to ensure user fluency for processes and meet ever changing business requirements.

Reporting Solutions

  • Partner with our finance teams, to maintain and build new custom reports (Delivered, Composite, Matrix, Studio, BIRT, Dashboards and other advanced reporting). Helping to increase transparency, generate deeper performance insights and improve decision making, while leveraging advanced Microsoft Excel skills to create calculated fields and have an understanding of business object models to recommend the most efficient solutions in modifying/creating reports.

  • Maintain, enhance, and continuously rationalize the existing management reporting library.

Your Competencies:

  • Ability to set up Workday System Integrations (EIBs, Core Connectors), support existing Studio Integrations, perform EIB data loads etc.

  • Support the ongoing development, maintenance and administration of our ERP system while serving as a Finance department software product specialist, building relationships with our stakeholders across the globe as well as third-party vendors to ensure that the services and solutions provided meet existing and future business needs.

  • Self-starter with organizational, analytical, problem-solving skills and time management skills and be able to meet deadlines; must be detail oriented and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with competing deadlines  while having the ability to be adaptable and flexible.

  • An understanding of key financial business processes and data flow across Procure-to-Pay, Accounts Payable, Accounting, Billing, Collections, Planning and Reporting.

  • Effective verbal and written communicator who takes initiatives and has the ability to translate and present complex issues and solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences to gain process efficiency & improve data integrity.

Your Education & Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 to 5 years Workday experience including Workday Financials.

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Accounting, Finance or Computer Science preferred but not required; or equivalent work experience including but not limited to developing and maintaining systems and integrations.
