Your Mission:

The Tech Communications Lead work closely with the CTO / CIO to lead a strong internal and executive communications program which ensures employees across Medidata are kept informed and excited with our tech strategy, initiatives and product development. Communications will take place over several channels, such as our internal portal, emails, blogs, and conferences. This individual will work closely with the Internal Communications Director, senior executives, and HR.

  • Proactively work with the CTO / CIO to develop and execute internal and executive communications plan by aligning messaging with IT transformation strategy.
  • Plan and prepare message frameworks, talking points, and strategic campaigns to disseminate best practice and knowledge specific to tech.
  • Create varied content and develop innovative delivery channels to increase the agility, impact and speed of communications to stakeholders.
  • Monitor engagement to ensure communications are fit for all audiences, ranging from executive leadership to employees, to external thought leaders.
  • Partner with the Internal Communications Director to ensure that all messages are aligned with corporate communications approaches and editorial calendars. 
  • Write speeches, messages or presentations for the CIO / CTO to the tech team or the entire company (working closely with the Internal Communications Director).
  • Ensure internal communications tech messages are consistent across all mediums.
  • Elevate Medidata’s tech focus externally by increasing brand awareness through social media, thought leadership and speaking opportunities.

  • Solid project, time and budget management skills essential.
  • Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work autonomously and act independently.
  • Digital expert familiar with information technology, especially digital and video means of communication, is essential.

Your Education & Experience:

  • Requires 7+ years of experience in communications and organizational change, supporting tech teams
  • Exceptional writing, communication, storytelling, and project management skills
  • Strong PowerPoint and visual design skills
  • Experience in writing for a tech-focused audience
  • Prior management of complex projects and advising senior managers is also required
  • Knowledgeable in strategic communications planning methodology; leading edge practices, trends, etc.
  • Must be well organized, able to prioritize work, manage time effectively, and follow through on commitments
  • Understanding the life sciences industry is a plus
