Overview of job

We are currently looking for a Senior ETL Engineer to join us. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting programming & tuning work on the development, maintenance & enhancement of ETL process in our data projects.

In this role, your goals will be:
In three months:

  • Got familiar with MediaCom, the environment, culture, ways of work, team
  • Consulted with internal team for expertise field
  • Measurement:
  • Quickly be familiar with assigned data projects.
  • Being able to maintain existing data project and implementing changes where necessary. 

 

In six months:

  • Became individual contributor
  • Contributed to new data projects
  • Build up strong relationship with internal teams who worked together daily.
  • Measurement:
  • Supported the first data project and assure 100% accuracy of the job.
  • Independently respond 50%+ requirements from internal teams and project stakeholders.
  • Being able to escalate issues to visualization teams and project stakeholders.

 

In 12 months:

  • Led and coached the junior fellow engineer to grow both hard and soft skill.
  • Grown your own knowledge in the area of data engineering.
  • Measurement:
  • Supported team members to contribute to new data projects.
  • Being able to work hand-in-hand with your global colleagues in Systems Tech to champion best practice when it comes to the development, implementation and maintenance of the BI project.
  • Suggest better possible solutions to optimize current data projects.
  • Being able to perform deep-dive analyses on complex datasets to solve data challenges.
  • Being able to write scripts on any cloud platform with any appropriate language.
  • Being able to work with Associate Director of Engineering very closely and other fellow engineers on ways of working and solutions to ensure the delivery of the engineering competency.
  • Being able to regularly document your work for the benefit of the team.

Objectives of the Role: 

  • Write scripts to automate data ETL process based on requirement and given data related cloud resources on Azure/Google Cloud Platform/AWS with any appropriate language (like SQL, PowerShell, Python etc.)
  • Maintain existing data project and implementing changes where necessary and escalating issues to visualization teams and project stakeholders.
  • Regularly document your work for the benefit of the team.
  • Suggest better possible solutions to optimize current data projects.
  • Perform deep-dive analyses on complex datasets to solve data challenges.
  • Work hand-in-hand with your global colleagues in Systems Tech to champion best practice when it comes to the development, implementation and maintenance of the BI project.
  • Work with Associate Director of Engineering very closely and other fellow engineers on ways of working and solutions to ensure the delivery of the engineering competency.

 

Minimum qualifications:

  • Studies in computer science, mathematics/statistics, or something similar
  • 3+ years of experience (preferably within data engineering on specialist agency, clients or technology provider side)
  • An independent, self-driven individual with highly responsible nature
  • Strong knowledge of ETL data process from acquisition to visualization
  • Familiarity with database modelling and data warehousing principles
  • Fluent in Chinese and good in English
  • Strong analytical and numerical problem-solving ability
  • Knowledge of various data platforms in Azure/Google Cloud Platform/AWS
  • Proficient in SQL development & tuning
  • Proficient in programming in one or more languages of PowerShell/Python/C#/Java
