Senior Writer, Organic Search (Freelance)

OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a Senior Freelance Writer to join Mediacom’s Creative Systems team to execute organic search content. In this role, you will write creative, effective, and data-driven search engine optimized (SEO) content for our financial services client. This is a great opportunity to work with a growing, highly cohesive, positive, high-potential team as we build out a best in class content practice at scale.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Generate keyword and editorial based story ideas for one or more lines of business such as credit cards, consumer bank, or auto lending
  • Write polished search engine optimized financial services article content at high volume that is strong in logic, flow, information, and style
  • Plan, research and write search optimized product pages and keyword-driven FAQ content
  • Be an expert practitioner in on-page SEO techniques for keyword-oriented content writing
  • Research complex ideas and make them understandable for a general audience
  • Maintain consistency, reliability and accuracy while meeting frequent, but achievable, deadlines


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An academic degree in a related field with 3-5 years of professional copywriting experience in content creation, journalism, advertising, marketing or related field
  • Excellent knowledge of keywording best practices (on-page)
  • Experience working with a defined content strategy and production flow
  • Be able to show and discuss previous content writing experience and how it relates to the content strategy behind it
  • Ability to fly solo when needed to get the job done, while maintaining a positive and cohesive team attitude
  • Experience working with content and/or project management systems (like Contently, Asana)
  • Financial services industry experience a big plus, especially if you’ve worked with a large financial content affiliate site (like Investopedia) or consumer bank
  • High-output content experience a big plus
