OVERVIEW:

The Digital Performance Director will institutionalize the digital offering within MediaCom Canada focusing on digital performance and strategy. They are responsible for providing thought leadership and strategic guidance for all existing and emerging digital media efforts/initiatives.

Balancing client, company and team needs, they will effectively leverage experience, knowledge/skills to push innovative thinking and set/achieve a set of challenging goals and objectives.  

Playing a key role in developing a culture of digital thinking and innovation across the entire organisation, the incumbent will be expected to bring and apply a ‘workshop’ culture to fuel collaboration, innovation and creativity in applying strategic digital best practices into the way we work.

YOUR IMPACT:

Business:

  • Lead the development and implementation of the “Best in Class” digital offering and capabilities across the organization and within the team, collaborating with agency leaders to ensure deployment and integration of our digital offering, primary focus on:
    • Focus on the development of performance-based planning, buying and optimizing.
    • Results focused with the ability to read data and tell a story to clients.
    • Own reporting function, and ensure data integrity of all dashboards, working with dashboard and buying teams.
    • Build and own the data strategy for assigned accounts
    • Work and provide guidance on the client’s MarTech ecosystem as needed.
    • Establish a focus and discipline of collaboration within the CST, Investment, Strategy and Business Science Teams that will check to ensure decisions and actions are aligned with overall strategic goals and will deliver intended results
    • Build credible and collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders both internally, externally and within the global network that will support delivery of the organizations strategic goals and can accommodate and resolve complex and sensitive issues
    • Take high-level strategic ideas and break them into their specific communications performance tasks to identify how the brand should behave in different consumer engagements, with projected results to benchmark.
    • Organize, concept, and develop tactical culturally relevant creative ideas that live in media environments in the context of specific communication tasks.
    • Assure all brand behaviour ladders up to and maps against MediaCom’s System planning tool, consumer insights and desired consumer behaviour outcomes.
    • Establish and lead overall strategic approach with key growth clients while maximizing potential through digital direct reports within existing account(s)
    • Ensure the digital team continually seeks a consumer-centric view in all strategic thinking
    • Provide POV internally and externally on various media (digital, social, mobile etc.) in the marketplace
    • Work with the SVP, Digital to continue to grow the digital offerings of Mediacom (internally through training of people, development of resources and products as well as external image)

    People Responsibilities:

    • Act as a visionary leader, providing support and advice to all levels of employees enabling them to focus on delivery of short-, medium- and long-term strategies
    • Inspire while leading by example the development, motivation, mentorship and coaching a team (direct and dotted line)
    • Ensure that annual performance appraisals (My360) and corresponding development plans are completed on a timely basis
    • Develop and foster strong collaborative relationships between assigned team and other departments in the organization
    • Target top talent, help select mid and senior level staff and ensure all senior level direct reports amass the skills and organizational savvy required for advancement
    • Ensure the team is effectively leveraging key applications, digital best practices and media research tools/resources
    • Advise and direct staff regarding necessary tools and training to improve upon existing expertise
    • Advise and mentor all digital supervisors and specialists integrated within the Client Services department

    Marketing and New Business

    • Provide on-going support to the Senior Leadership Team and New Business as a thought leader and/or member of pitch teams on all key pitches
    • Draft & merchandise strategy case studies leading ideation sessions with MediaCom and other stakeholders as required
    • Contribute articles externally and internally (i.e., web site, blogs, twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Blink magazine, etc.) and other targeted venues that will increase MediaCom’s visibly  
    • Develop topics and presentations for speaking opportunities

    YOU ARE:

    • Willing to challenge clients and colleagues based on proven case knowledge and experience
    • Detailed awareness of client business issues, industry trends, consumer trends, promotional resources, market status and competition
    • Understanding of the principles of marketing and advertising as well as an understanding of media concepts and terms, creative and budget requirements
    • Complete knowledge of all media types
    • Superior written, presentation, and verbal skills – ability to tell a story with data
    • High level of analytical and quantitative skills – focus on optimization to drive a maximum volume of outcomes
    • Able to demonstrate industry knowledge across all media channels with understanding of offline media
    • Proven capabilities in strategic and conceptual development of promotion programs and brand marketing
    • Able to articulate a vision for defining digital consumer insights
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with superior presentation/platform skills
    • A robust individual who embraces challenges and change
    • Ability to deliver outcomes, not just process

    YOUR EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

    • 7+ years overall industry experience with a minimum of 5 years in providing strategic guidance across a diverse spectrum of client categories
    • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, MBA a plus – concentration in advertising, marketing, business administration, and/or communications
    • Advanced presentation skills – must have workshop and pitch presentation experience
    • Exceptional people skills (client, employee, management), ability to manage and coach large teams
    • Experience and knowledge of all aspects of digital media, video, search, social media & mobile platforms etc.
