Associate Director - Integrated Planning


Objectives of the Role

The Dell Gaming Associate Media Director (AMD) acts as the day-to-day liaison between the Dell Gaming clients and the MediaCom Dell media team, providing leadership, strategic direction, and input for media plans.  The AMD effectively leverages experience, knowledge, and skills to push innovative thinking while balancing client, company, and team needs with the assistance of the CSB Lead.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day strategic integrated media planning activities for Gaming efforts (largely focused on Alienware)
  • Lead planning objectives and strategies that coincide with the client’s marketing direction
  • Manage team resources and lead large, custom programs with Strategy team in Branding plans
  • Manage team resources and balance with Performance, Programmatic and Analytics team in Direct Response plans
  • Establish and grow client relationships by demonstrating an understanding of industry and client business issues
  • Achieve the financial goals of the account by managing costs, revenue, and scope of work in accordance with client contract
  • Oversee budget allocation process for all media based on client initiatives and direction; accurately project costs and anticipate the financial results of plan revisions
  • Work with internal teams to develop and gauge media performance and KPIs to determine the extent to which the original objectives and strategies were met
  • Develop POVs on various media in the marketplace
  • Proactive assessment of opportunities and trends impacting the media landscape


People Responsibilities

  • Lead collaboration across planning team, extended internal teams/ partner agencies (Strategy, Search, Social, Analytics, Ad ops, TV Investment, Radio Investment, Influencer) and Dell’s internal creative agency and PR team
    • Ensure Investment teams tactical plans are aligned with strategy
  • Participate in the recruitment and selection of junior staff
  • Mentor and guide direct reports to ensure proper education for advancement
  • Lead trainings and workshops internal and with external partners
  • Ability to build trust and lead the team through transparency and compassion
  • Possess the willingness to work with and teach others within the group
  • Lead by example assisting in all levels of the planning process
  • Effectively communicate across all levels
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships within and outside the immediate team


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Deep understanding and passion for the gaming space (pc/ console)
  • Detailed awareness of media landscape, trends, and competition
  • Strong knowledge of all aspects of Branding + Direct Response media
    • Offline media: Linear TV, CTV, Radio, Influencer
    • Digital media: Programmatic, Display, Mobile, Video
  • Solid understanding of:
    • Analytics concepts:  Media Mix Modelling, Online Fractional Attribution, Brand studies
    • Research tools such as comScore, Telmar, XPert, Simmons, MRI
    • Mediaocean Suite: Prisma (online)
  • Proficient understanding of media concepts and terms, creative and budget requirements
  • Ability to bring new and different ideas, processes, and thoughtful thinking to share with broader team
  • Ability to translate data into insights, and actionable recommendations
  • Creative ability to partner and develop innovation and first to market opportunities
  • Strong understanding of media data sources
  • Success in managing prior client accounts
  • Strong written, presentation, analytic, quantitative/qualitative, and verbal skills
  • Superior organizational, interpersonal and managerial skills with attention to detail


Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 6 to 8 years’ previous experience desired, ideally working with both branding and direct response clients and across offline and digital channels
  • Prior experience managing a team
