As a senior data engineer in MediaCom Systems Technology, you will be building data pipelines from marketing data sources – particularly digital marketing campaign data - into databases hosted on Google Cloud Platform.
Our data engineers are responsible for designing, building and maintaining cloud-based ETL pipelines, working with our dashboard engineers and data scientists to provide clean, up-to-date data for their dashboards and models.
Data sources vary from API connections, to FTP and storage buckets, or manual data entry by users into a system that you have created. You will be asked to lead on best practices for creating and maintaining those connections, designing an environment that centres around Google Cloud Platform and particularly BigQuery.
You will also work with external suppliers on certain data pipelines, integrating their work into our overall cloud environment, ensuring that these suppliers work to our specifications and also learning from them where we are able to adopt new techniques or technology.
You have an analytical mindset, a passion for solving problems and experience building automated data pipelines in a cloud environment. Google Cloud Platform experience is an advantage, along with Apache Airflow and Tableau, though this is primarily a data engineering rather than dashboarding role.
- Maintaining existing data pipelines built in Apache Airflow
- Working with dashboard engineers to provide data for their reports
- Working with data scientists to provide data for their models
- Maintaining a data warehouse, accessible by staff across MediaCom
- Ensuring data quality
- Ensuring that data pipelines refresh, with communication of problems to data users
- Managing external contractors on some data pipelines
- Building new data pipelines
- Ensuring best-practices for data acquisition and warehousing
- 3+ years in a data engineering role
- Experience with cloud databases and data pipelines
- Coding in Python or R
- Logical, problem solving mindset
- Apache Airflow
- Google Cloud Platform and BigQuery
- Experience working with marketing and/or web analytics data
