About the role
We are looking for a sharp and ambitious Account Manager with strong Media Planning experience, who is ready to start a new adventure in our Planning team within the BT Group. You would be part of one of Essence’s flagship accounts working within “Team Connect”, a collective of 60+ experienced cross-media marketing professionals.

In this role, you will be working alongside the Planning Director on the BT Enterprise account to drive client satisfaction and provide daily support to the wider account team. Your previous planning experience will be key to develop strong working relationships with your clients and work closely with the planning team to deliver high-quality responses, ensuring all processes are met. 

The Media Planning Account Manager works within a team of media planners with at least one direct report. They will be ultimately responsible for campaign performance and the delivery of best-in-class work. They work hand-in-hand with Activation and Client Services teams to ensure client budgets are used optimally via effective planning, in-flight cross-channel optimisations and insightful post campaign analysis to inform future campaigns. They support senior team members on the day-to-day management of media plans and their proper implementation, working to fulfill agreed media objectives in the context of changing market conditions. 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Support senior media planners to manage tasks within the team, working more independently on smaller campaigns and liaising closely on larger projects.
  • Conduct audience research to determine and support planning recommendations, They should be comfortable working with GWI and Comscore. 
  • Allocate budget appropriately between channels.
  • Support senior media planners and Activation with forecasting requests and work with them to analyse the accuracy and actualise previous campaign data.  
  • Contribute to clear briefs to Activation and collaborative sessions to deliver these.
  • Evaluate responses from the Activation team and work with them to finalise channel and publisher selections and budgets.
  • Own the overall plan (as shared with clients) and the Olive plan
  • Maintain the testing plans and supporting material.
  • Own the delivery of digital campaigns from briefing through to end of campaign reporting. 
  •  Develop strong relationships with our clients and become the lead contact for the digital campaigns you run.
  • Create and manage cross-channel reporting templates and present weekly status slides to the client ensuring accuracy is maintained and insights and actions are followed up on. 
  • Collate and quality assure in-channel Activation reports, and develop insights and recommendations for the weekly cross-channel report.
  • Take responsibility for the collaboration and delivery of creative specs.
  • Meet with relevant B2B vendors and have a relevant point of view on their offering.
  • Contribute to case studies that can be shared internally as learning and best practice.
  • Train and manage Media Planning Execs to deliver high quality of output.

Competencies (specific knowledge, skills and abilities):

  • Forecast expected outcomes of campaigns and manage spend accordingly.
  • Basic spreadsheet capability (VLOOKUP, Pivot Table, goal seek) are a must.
  • Superior presentation design skills, in slides or document format.
  • Understanding of industry standard media research tools (e.g. Comscore, GWI, TGI, YouGov).
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills, with the desire to learn and advance.
  • Excellent organizational skills, close attention to detail and ability to quality control work.
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines.
  • Superb client relationship and management skills.
  • Proven problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and to collaborate in a team environment.
  • Skilled in quantitative reasoning.
  • Experience with planning activity for emerging markets is beneficial
