The OAG Civil Rights Division is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Paralegal II to support attorneys in the investigation, litigation, and resolution of civil rights matters. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of legal procedures and a commitment to justice, equity, and protecting the rights of all individuals.

This role involves working on cases involving discrimination, hate crimes, police misconduct, disability rights, fair housing, voting rights, and other constitutional or statutory civil rights protections.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct legal and factual research to support investigations and litigation.
  • Draft, edit, and prepare legal documents including complaints, motions, discovery requests, subpoenas, and case summaries.
  • Organize and manage case files, exhibits, and evidence in both physical and electronic formats.
  • Assist attorneys with preparation for interviews, depositions, hearings, and trials.
  • Monitor and track case deadlines, filings, and court schedules.
  • Review and summarize documents such as witness statements, investigative reports, and public records.
  • Communicate professionally with witnesses, complainants, opposing counsel, and law enforcement agencies.
  • Assist in drafting responses to public inquiries, complaints, or record requests under FOIA or state open records laws.
  • Support data collection and reporting efforts related to division performance or compliance obligations.
