Description
The Attorney General is the chief legal officer of the State of Maryland. The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) has the general charge, supervision, and direction of the State’s legal business, acting as legal advisors and representatives of the major agencies, various boards, commissions, officials, and institutions of State Government. The OAG also protects the public by civil enforcement of antitrust, civil rights, consumer protection, and securities laws and regulations and by the prosecution of organized crime, Medicaid fraud, environmental crimes, insurance fraud, state tax evasion, and other statutorily assigned matters. As Maryland’s 47th Attorney General, Anthony G. Brown leads the Office with a critical focus on equity, justice, and fairness.
The Performance and Innovation Division (PID) drives organizational excellence by leveraging data, process improvement, and innovative strategies to enhance efficiency and service delivery across the agency. The division is a cross-functional team that solves problems and generates insights for OAG leadership.
- Assess data quality and prepare datasets for analysis
- Analyze performance metrics and support data-driven decision-making
- Conduct research and develop process improvement recommendations
- Build dashboards, reports, and presentations for OAG leadership
- Develop or tune artificial intelligence or machine learning solutions
- Opportunity to present findings to senior OAG leadership
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Data Analytics, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Public Administration, Business, Information Systems, or a related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working independently and taking initiative on technical projects
- Excellent written communication skills
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of a standard data analytics platform (R, Power BI, Python, or similar)
- Preferred: Experience or strong interest in low-code/no-code platforms (Power Automate, Power Apps)
- Preferred: Interest in Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs)
- Plus: Familiarity with SQL or database structures (helpful but not required for most projects)
