McClatchy Internships

News Sacramento, California

Description

At McClatchy, we believe in being the eyes, ears & voice for the communities we cover. To achieve this we know our journalists need to represent and reflect those communities.

As a McClatchy Intern, you can expect to:

  • Be treated like a staff member, whether you are working as a reporter, visual storyteller, or audience / social media specialist.

  • You will be assigned to a senior-level mentor during the internship and will receive coaching, training and mentoring.

  • Work with seasoned staffers and work directly with local leaders.

Our internships are 10 weeks and pay $600 weekly. We have at least one internship in all 30 of McClatchy's newsrooms in the United States.

We are seeking smart, curious self-starters who are interested in a professional career in journalism, multimedia and digital design.

We believe in telling the stories that shape and shake our world. We believe that trust is essential and that truth doesn’t have versions. We believe in being the eyes, ears and voices of the communities we cover. If you believe as we do, come join a company with a 160-year history of being a force for change. We have a great opportunity for you.

Please include your resume, a persuasive cover letter and 4-6 samples of your best work, as well as an indication of where you are interested in interning. We will be selecting candidates for 2023 in late fall of 2022.
