Messaging Technical Product Manager

McClatchy is in search of a Technical Product Manager to lead our Messaging Platform team. In this position, you will collaborate with product managers, architects, and software engineers to deliver scalable software solutions to delight our customers. This position will execute our product vision by setting business priorities for the development and platform teams and maintaining a clean product backlog and roadmap. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop user, business, and technical requirements for messaging  products and features
  • Collaborate with business and technical teams to assess value and deliver the most important roadmap items first
  • Communicate and collaborate cross-functionally between Product, UX, Development, and business stakeholders
  • Participate in release planning and support release execution as needed
  • Document release notes to be shared within the organization to inform all employees of upcoming changes to the platform
  • Work with stakeholders to define requirements of new features
  • Maintain a prioritized backlog to feed the development and platform teams
  • Provide assistance in troubleshooting end user issues to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Break down high level requirements into epics, features, and user stories
  • Lead and facilitate various agile ceremonies if needed
  • Shepherd product and feature implementations, including limited project management responsibilities
  • Analyze existing processes, procedures, and platforms for opportunities for growth - feel empowered to take ownership and speak out!


  • 1-3 years of experience as a Product Owner, Product Analyst, or Product Manager
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal - you’ll be working with global teams so clear communication is key
  • Familiarity with Agile software development and willingness to learn more
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills
