McClatchy/HBCU Internship
Description
To help ensure this, we’ve established the McClatchy HBCU Internship as a pathway for HBCU business and journalism students to receive a well-rounded experience that exposes them to the world of media/publishing and helps us build the next generation of professionals committed to McClatchy and our mission.
We know that internships lay the foundation for future careers. The McClatchy HBCU Internship is an opportunity for successful HBCU students to receive a guaranteed internship every summer of their college journey and a job upon graduation. This opportunity will help students successfully transition from the classroom to the media industry.
Key Features of the Program
This opportunity is available to freshmen/rising sophomores who are interested in pursuing careers in any aspect of our business – journalism, multimedia, digital design, marketing, business, human resources, product innovation, finance, and/or information technology.
Six recipients will each participate in a ten-week full-time internship. Internships will pay $15 per hour.
Recipients must agree to be available for the internship for three consecutive summers as well as commit to working for McClatchy one full year upon graduation. Every effort will be made to provide the internship and job in the area of interest to the student.
As a McClatchy HBCU Intern, you can expect to:
Be assigned to a senior-level mentor during the internship and first year of employment.
Receive coaching, training and mentoring.
Work with seasoned staffers and work directly with local leaders.
Work on projects that help solve recurring problems and improve business.
Develop and refine professional skills.
We are seeking individuals who can enthusiastically inject fresh ideas, perspectives and skills that help solve real business problems. Smart, curious self-starters who are interested in a professional career in journalism, multimedia, digital design, marketing, business, human resources, product innovation, finance, and/or information technology should apply.
