CDL Driver - Class B
Education: High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience: Previous operation of a parcel van. Must possess a valid CDL Class B license.
Skills/Abilities: Must pay close attention to accuracy when loading materials
Contact with other: Other transportation drivers, distributors, state haulers, single copy contractors, home delivery contractors, district managers. Some contact with employees in the mailroom when picking up materials to be transported to a pre-determined destination.
Supervision received: Receives weekly work schedule of duties to be performed. Clock in and out at the beginning and end of each shift.
The pressure of work: This is a part-time job, 20 – 25 hours weekly. Most materials are hauled in the evening and early morning hours but at times the schedule is changed because of increased demands.
Time is of the essence: Newspapers and other materials have a deadline.
The newspaper is a seven-day product and is delivered in all kinds of weather.
