Local Marketing Consultant

McClatchy has an exciting opportunity for a Local Marketing Consultant to join our dynamic and forward-thinking sales team! The Local Marketing Consultant will develop plans for growth areas (cross-sell/up-sell/new customers) within identified opportunity categories in Rock Hill and Fort Mill, South Carolina.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Understand and assess areas for growth within identified opportunity categories and share insights with sales team.

  • Target and build relationships with existing clients and potential clients that are strategic for the organization and that are interested in multi-product solutions.

  • Create proposals with good/better/best solutions after gaining a complete understanding of the client's needs through a Client Impact Assessment (CIA).

  • Communicate Return on Investment (ROI) solutions and educate the client on marketing tactics, as needed.

  • Actively manage relationship by reporting campaign results to ensure client satisfaction and identify follow-up opportunities for up-sell and cross-sell.

Key Competencies:

  • Ability to grow and develop deep category insights.

  • Possess a strong grasp of all products to help craft complex ROI-impacted solutions.

  • Ability to identify and capture new business revenue.

  • Exhibit technical competency, e.g. updating our CRM, create client-ready proposals in PowerPoint, etc.

  • Focused on finding solution to problems.

  • Ability to sell against other media & effectively manage and overcome objections.

  • Strong project management, interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously.

Job Requirements:

  • 3+ years in sales and marketing
  • College degree required.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to build relationships.
  • Understanding of basic marketing concepts.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must have access to a dependable vehicle and valid driver's license.
