The Audience Growth Producer strives to grow and diversify audiences across our region. He/she/they will serve as the SME for growing audiences in a particular market. The producer’s job is to maintain the flow of readers into our top funnel spot. He/she/they should be data focused, ensuring our content is useful, attractive, and finds the widest audience possible.

Key tasks include:

  • Collaborate with the Breaking News Team to daily execute the region's breaking news strategy. 
  • Build and manage content-focused social media campaigns that increase brand awareness. The ideal candidate will write sharp, concise, clean social media copy while helping develop brand voice. He/she/they should be prepared to coach newsrooms on best social media practices. 
  • Identify key new audiences, devising and launching key tactics to establish and grow them.  
  • Collaborate with the analytics team to craft key metrics reports, distributing to the newsrooms on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Producer should know how to utilize data and insights to formulate and execute plans to grow audiences and determine whom we should target. 
  • Extend market’s reach to target audiences by building and maintaining relationships with third-party platforms, news aggregators, and syndication partners.
  • Educate newsrooms on SEO best practices, ensuring all breaking news stories are surfaced for potential readers through search.
  • Other digital audience growth duties as needed


  • Passion for news 
  • Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams. 
  • Experience managing social media accounts and working knowledge of SEO concepts
  • A love for experimentation --those who fear doing, learning and re-doing should not apply. 
  • Ability to use metrics to make real-time decisions and develop digital strategies 
  • Possess excellent communication skills including being comfortable and adept with leading meetings and talking with external vendors. 
  • An independent spirit that can make decisions quickly and can handle several tasks at once.
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree preferred. 
  • Ability to work off hours when needed.
