City Government Reporter

News Myrtle Beach, SC

The Sun News is expanding its reporting staff with the addition of a South Strand reporter who will focus on development and growth in our communities. The right candidate can easily build relationships with community leaders, business and homeowners to tell the stories of a community growing despite climate change and repeated flooding.

The Sun News is looking for a driven reporter who can dig through data, business license filings, tax documents and more. He or she is a self-starter with strong organizational skills and has a deep understanding of what our audience wants to read and responds.

We serve one of the fastest growing areas in the country. Our readers are passionate about their elected officials, alligators, crime, sea turtles and food, not necessarily in that order.

Myrtle Beach is, obviously, right on the beach, with 60 miles of beautiful coast along the Grand Strand. The area offers plenty of opportunities to get outside and explore with world-class golfing, fishing and lounging in the sun.

The Sun News is a part of McClatchy, a flexible, empowering and exciting culture dedicated to creating a work/life/balance and consistent opportunities for growth.

All offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of post-offer drug and background screenings.  We offer a competitive salary, along with a varied benefits package, including Medical, Dental, Vision coverage, Accident, Critical Care and Pet insurance as well as Life Insurance, 401(k) Savings Plan, vacation, sick leave and company holidays.
